Evernote add-in for Outlook 365

Recommended Posts

Also, did you happen to switch from the older version of Outlook in Microsoft 365 to "new Outlook"?

For many of us, including me, the add-in does not work reliably so, in the end, it might not be worth it for you to spend a bunch of time trying to get the add-in back.  For me, it's no big deal since using my Evernote email address I can forward anything I want in to Outlook by email, but others report that the forwarding alternative is less useful for them.

I continue to have a problem with the Outlook 365 add-in not working.  It is in a constant "Loading' mode.  The activity log shows:

What exactly is the error message w/r/t the "auth token" telling me?  What should I do?

Thanks.

We're mainly other users here, and most of us aren't able to work through activity logs usefully. I think the "auth token" probably has something to do with logging in. To Evernote? To Outlook? To Office 365? That I wouldn't know (even if I'm right that "auth token" has to do with login). You may need to open a ticket with support: https://www.evernote.com/SupportLogin.action.

Make sure you're installing the Evernote add-in from the add-in ‘store’ that's under the Tools menu:

Search for Evernote in the search box and it ought to allow you to install it from there. I use it daily, and it works great in both New and Classic Outlook (although if I recall correctly, they are separate apps, so if you switch between them, you'd have to install it on both New and Classic Outlook).

Dave-in-Decatur and Macfixer...

Thanks for the feedback.  I've deleted and added back the add-in a couple of times and still no joy.  I submitted a ticket to Support and will hopefully get some direction from them.

That is unfortunate. If you log in with Outlook.com and try adding the addin there, does it work? I wonder if a web browser ad-blocker is preventing something from working as expected?

Thanks for sticking with me on this.  Oddly, when I click on Outlook.com and log in, I do not see where I can access the add-ins.  I am using a Samsung android tablet, but routinely use the Outlook client.

I tried to enter a ticket with Support, but the response has been that the Support function is being reorganized (or something to that effect) and I am encouraged to check back later.

No worries — I don't use Android myself, but I can attempt to assist you.

As for where the addins are located in the web version of Outlook, please refer to this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/using-add-ins-in-outlook-on-the-web-8f2ce816-5df4-44a5-958c-f7f9d6dabdce

I hope that helps! If I can be of additional assistance, let me know.

Great reference, but still no joy.   I added the Evernote add-in, but it is not showing up (the Elephant logo) anywhere on the Outlook ribbon (or anywhere else on it).

Thanks for the help so far.

(P.S. -- Can't believe I'm trying to watch the Super Bowl while doing this.)

So, if I recall correctly, you gotta then customize the toolbar and add the button to the menu:

MacFixer, I appreciate your help, but I'm afraid I've reached diminishing returns on resolving this issue.  I thought your suggestion was an "Ah Ha moment", but my Android tablet isn't giving me the option to customize the toolbar. The Outlook Store seems to confirm that the Evernote Add-In was added, but Outlook.com fails to recognize this Add-In (or the ones for Trello or ToDoist) exist.  Bummer.  I'll resort to forwarding my captures to the Evernote email address.

Thanks again,

Rick

According to Google:

To use add-ins in Outlook on Android, you can do the following:
  1. Install the Microsoft Outlook app from the Play Store
  2. Log in to your account
  3. Tap the Settings cog in the top right
  4. Scroll down to the Connected Apps and Add-ins section
  5. Tap Add-ins
  6. Tap the + sign next to the add-ins you want to enable

Add-ins for Outlook on Android are only available when reading email. They can't be activated when composing messages or viewing or composing appointments.
