Level 5 PinkElephant 8,828 Posted July 28, 2022 Level 5 Share Posted July 28, 2022 You should run a supported version of MacOS to install v10. The alternative is to install the legacy client. https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/115012107027 1 Link to comment
Reistad 3
Agree Mac is not compatible with Mac OS High Sierra. Many of us use that since we have other software that does not work with newer versions of Mac OS. Evernote should provide a solution for us. Otherwise I find that Evernote is not supportive enough. The have competitors out there. So If they decide to continue this lack of support it is not worth paying for it. May be it is better to go for the free version of Evernote. OneNote is an alternative that many of us already have access to. Link to comment

Evernote Legacy works with this OS (apparently) - but if the OS is incompatible with v10 features, it seems unlikely that Evernote will develop another new product specifically for High Sierra users. Reistad 3
Is it possible to run a different version that works with Mac OS High Sierra? Otherwise I think the paid version is not worth paying for. Link to comment
Evernote Expert agsteele 3,060 Posted August 30, 2022 Evernote Expert Share Posted August 30, 2022 As already stated, you can use so-called Evernote Legacy edition. Use your favourite search engine to locate using an old edition of Evernote 1 Link to comment
Reistad 3
Installed the Legacy edition. So that is the solution for me. Evernote should inform better about the compatibility of their software when they update. And also more about what to do if your OS version is not compatible. Link to comment
Evernote Expert agsteele 3,060 Posted August 30, 2022 Evernote Expert Share Posted August 30, 2022 If you want some of the new features such as Tasks or Calendar links then you'll need to switch to the web browser version. Link to comment
Reistad 3
Guess I stay with the Legacy edition till I upgrade my Mac. But thanks for the tips about features and the possibility to use the browser version. 1 Link to comment

Otherwise I think the paid version is not worth paying for. You are running an outdated version of MacOS, but believe everybody needs to develop NEW software for a DYING version of MacOS ? I don't think EN should throw our subscription money into sinkholes like that. Legacy does not get new features (OK, you are used to that when still running HighSierra), so the only fully working option will be the web client. But this has already been posted. Link to comment
Reistad 3
I have to think twice then where to spend my subscription money. A good thing that we have other alternatives. Link to comment
Level 5 PinkElephant 8,828 Posted August 31, 2022 Level 5 Share Posted August 31, 2022 You are right about alternatives, and you should explore them. Legacy may not be around for all time, who knows. Link to comment
Reistad 3
I will probably buy a new Mac later on and upgrade the software. But till then, why not go for the free version and enjoy the free ride. I understand why EN don't upgrade an outdated OS. But they should improve when they give information about updates. It was complicated to get information about why Evernote suddenly didn't work with my OS. They should give more information when an update leave out a version of an OS: Link to comment

Although access to Support is useful - they could have easily answered any questions about High Sierra forinstance... Link to comment
Level 5 PinkElephant 8,828 Posted August 31, 2022 Level 5 Share Posted August 31, 2022 …. as a look into the help database reveals the system limits. And this works for Free users as well. Link to comment
rbianchi 66
I'm currently using Evernote version 10.43.7 on an iMac running High Sierra, with no issues so far. I also have Evernote Legacy installed, and I use both versions with no problem. Link to comment
Reistad 3
Don't know what is best. Downgrade to 10.43.7 or use Evernote Legacy. I'm using Legacy at the moment. 1 Link to comment

The choice between versions though depends on exactly what you want to be doing - if Legacy works for you, stick with that. 1 Link to comment
Reistad 3
I stick with Legacy then on my MacBook Pro and wait till I buy a new MacBook Air later on. 1 Link to comment
