How can I access one physical EN database on a MacBook under two users?

Can I place symbolic links into the respective directories within the library directory of the second user?

To what purpose; Save disk space?  Share data?

The master version of our data is stored on the Evernote server

We get a data copy on the Mac; folder www.evernote.com
Each user's data is stored in separate sub-folders

Symbolic links won't save much disk space, and will mess with the sync to the server

If the objective is access to the same data, use shared notebooks

From my understanding, as long as each user is dialed into the same EN account, the content will be kept identical via sync even when there are 2 user libraries on the Mac. The only difference would probably exist in local notebooks.

But I have not tried, so maybe I am wrong with this assumption.

I don't think this sort of application would have been what the engineers had in mind when designing the database architecture - I'm pretty sure they assumed that each user would have their own account and collaboration would be by sharing notes between accounts.  On that basis sharing a MB may give rise to -unexpected- results;  but the only way to find out is to try it and see.  Obviously some careful testing would be in order before anything business critical occurs.

Hi DTLOw! Thank you.

Exactly. Why would I want two copies of the same database on one machine?

>>Symbolic links won't save much disk space, and will mess with the sync to the server<<

-  Why wouldn't LNs save space?

-  It could indeed by messy.

My example above showed two accounts, with database folders 115620 and 140273970.
They are different databases, with most of the disk space defined by the note contents

An example is a note stored under folder 115620 (200MB)
Your "LN" will move the note to folder 140273970 (200MB)
Net saving is 0 MB920107857_ScreenShot2019-10-14at07_25_03.png.3ea5ac390dbf04b6d048512c3248e681.png
