I would love to see the 'reading view' from Android being carried over to the desktop app(s). It would keep the wiki part of my Evernote database nice and clean and also prevent mistakes and/or issue with autosave. For instance, I use tables for inventory lists. Too often the scrolling motion get interrupted because I click inside a column, especially I'd the table row is longer than the width of the screen and I can't rest my fingers on either side. It's not a huge thing but it would improve the reading/ viewing experience for me. It's also a way to 'finish' a work process. Alternatively, being able to mark a note 'finished' (this 'note status' approach would be a way to make the recent 'task' approach more integrated with the core note system as opposed to being a feature that lives on the surface of the new EN). Weather it's 'read only vs edit' or 'finished' vs 'in progress', links should always be active/ working.

I meant to say I save a PDF copy of the document ( "save as" within Excel or whatever app I am using) on a harddrive, keeping the original, editable file in EN. I started doing this as I want to keep backup copies outside EN, and even if I "save as" to the EN attachment folder, I still need to add it manually to a table to make it appear. The reason I save copies as PDFs is just a personal preference, as it prevents me from messing up by editing different copies of the same document from two different locations.

Agreed, tables are really useful for attaching documents. I keep my original editable documents in EN, and open them directly from the note. When I've made a change, I save a copy of the document as PDF in a backup folder on my harddrive, and paste it back into evernote, using the table to add date and add any additional comments. Just so much easier than rummaging through the file explorer on windows and checking each file. Also helps me prevent documents names like "FINAL-v2_edit_this-is-FINAL_(...)"

At this point I would rather have the option to preview documents and image files in EN just like with PDFs, PNGs etc. I guess a calculation table/ calculator could be added as a Home widget short term, for on the go calculations, either by Evernote or a third party. If Evernote finds the time to do a full calculation integration in the text editor at some point, that would also be great, but an image preview allows for so many other uses.

Well, like I said, I'd prefer not to have in-app ads, or get an option to disable them, just like you may choose to opt out of email newsletters/ offers. As I understand it more features will be coming to Evernote in the coming months, and I'd rather let the team know sooner than later before the ads start popping up everywhere. If these start showing up in the note editor too it's really going to affect productivity. Ultimately it is the team's decision how to handle this. Good for you! I do feel the email I was sent was somewhat misleading. I spent nearly a week trying to resolve an issue with my Home prompting me to upgrade to Professional in order to save my changes, only to be told in the end that the issue was I had added a pinned note which was not included in my subscription. It's ironic having to spend that much time on getting a clear answer for a 'productivity' app. Oh well. I'm reacting to the fact that the Home features are now split into tiers, when I was under the impression that Home customisations was a feature that would carry over from Premium to Personal. I participated in the Home beta, and one of the most requested features was the ability to use multiple pinned notes, or use a widget multiple times. Some people event went so far as to say Home would be useless to them as a productivity feature without this option. I tend to agree with this, as there are far to few widgets at this point to create a dashboard that replaces my custom made dashboard with shortcuts. However, the thing that bothers me the most about the rollout of the new plans is the choice to make visible features and options in Evernote that are unavailable/ unsavable unless you follow the promt to upgrade your plan. This, in my opinion, is a type of in-app advertising, which is something I usually pay to avoid. For me Evernote is a place for creativity and productivity, a space to be in and create. Being constantly reminded of not having features or being prompted to pay for an upgrade just interferes with my process and workflow, and just interferes with my space in a negative way. I appreciate that this may be a very personal thing, but up until recently opening up Evernote was something positive, and it made me feel I was actually getting some work done. I have been using evernote since 2012 and have been a subscriber for years, and I just don't want to start associating Evernote with something negative.

I've been having this issue with my Android app for a wee while. I tend to keep Evernote running while using other apps. Whenever I bring EN back up to create a note, the editor for the new note won't load, or will only load after a a good while. The solution is to close the app and then load it up again. It's not the biggest issue, but it's a bit frustrating when multitasking and when I'm just want to jot something down on the go. I've got the latest version installed

Same problem here. Actually some of the links seem to work as shareable links that opens in the browser, while other work like internal links, even if all links in question were creating using the 'create internal link' option. This seems really odd, and it really breaks the workflow for me as I use internal link all the time to navigate back and forth between notes.

Like I said, people are different. However, I never said anything about pleasing everyone. I thought it would be sensible to take a moment to consider how different people think and work and look at what the possibilities are before dismissing suggestions based on one's own preferences. I don't need an integrated drawing app. EN has had different plugins in the past, and I appreciate the simplicity of the UI. But perhaps there are other ways to provide some visual customization in EN that doesn't require a complete redesign. For instance, I think a lot could be solved by providing more varied templates. For now I have made my own 'home page' note that contains links to my most used notes and it works ok for the most part. I do think it would be easier if it was possible to lock a note/make it 'read only'. Or, if that is too complicated, make it possible to toggle between a 'reading mode' (not presentation) and the editing mode (the text editor) as clicking links or scrolling a note in the Windows app too often results in accidentally moving text or stretching a table. The Android allows for this. Tapping the screen makes a note editable (though I would prefer if it was possible to choose between 'tap anywhere' or 'tap the edit button'). I tend to use the Android app primarily for reading and the Windows app for writing just because this is what seems to works best at the moment. I do look forward to see how the new EN is streamlined across all the different devices.

I con't miss physical notebooks, but I miss the restriction of a limited number of pages, and limited space. Right now EN for me is like a bottomless sea of notes, even if I have used tags extensively. Rather than repeating myself, I'll go ahead and quote parts of a post from another thread: "I don't really miss physical notebooks that much, but I miss the great feeling of finally having filled an entire book. Adding some visual cues would help me create that sense of having made progress. Right now Evernote for me is this bottomless sea of notes from the past eight years. I realise that might not mean much to every Evernote user, but having a notebook cover, even with a progress bar next to it to indicate how much of the notebook have been filled (if you have specified a limited number of pages/notes), would be very helpful to me with the kind of work I am doing. A notebook cover can be like a trophy/reward or achievement like in a video game as it can represent progress. For instance, I like to have a new notebook at the beginning of every month, but I would also like to get the sense of how my notes are piling up. Having a few visual cues to encourage me to look through my previous notebooks would be good. This has been a discussion in the EN forums for years. I guess either you get it or your don't. Or, in other words: Either you think and work visually or you don't. For those who don't, searches and tags are probably more than good enough. However, I would love to see a more wide acceptance of the fact that people think and work differently, and that one way isn't necessarily better than the other. I would love to see EN provide the necessary tools for both groups."

I don't know if this is still relevant to you @Flier but have you considered using tags instead of notebooks in the shortcut menu? Tags, unlike notebook stacks, can all be styled with colour like the regular notebook. Might be worth a look? I've never been able to use the Web Clipper with Youtube. Every time I try it produces a blank note. Currently I am using Firefox, but have been using Chrome as well

@Ian Small Thank you for getting back to us. It's reassuring. I'm happy as long as I get a few more tools that lets me navigate/think more visually in Evernote. However, I bet a lot of the suggestions here have been considered already, so going to wait and see how the video series progress before making another list

Sounds like you're saying it would be easier, maybe even necessary, to develop a calculation table as a separate feature that co-exist with the current table feature? (Like "Insert... 'normal table' or 'calculation table'"? Anyway, I would definitely love this feature at some point. You mention "(...)you could embed an Excel (or whatever) spreadsheet right in a note" Are you saying it is currently possible to embed a an Office document and not simply add it as an attachment that needs to be opened in order to be read?

Hey, thanks for posting this update. In the video you spoke briefly about tables. I am curious to know how the tables behave compared to the current editor? One of the great frustrations for me when using tables and creating layouts in Evernote is that when selecting a table or a field is that I end up changing everything around by accident when selecting text. I would like to be able to have a table's layout to stay fixed, so that I can concentrate on either creating the table (layout mode) or filling it out (writing mode). I still use Excel and Word for most of my lists because of this. In the same way I would love for a template to have a fixed layout so that I don't make any changes by accident. I don't know if this would be possible, but it would be really cool to be able to set a word limit in a text field (for instance, max 100 words) as I do a lot of reports and projects and there is often a word limit that I have to stick to. And another thing: Would it be possible to have some kind of field/label presets for a field? Checkboxes are all good, but sometimes when I make a list, I would like for instance to mark the status of a project ( 'sent', 'in progress', 'finished' etc) with different colour labels without having to manually type in the word and select a background colour for each entry. Being able to set a progress bar (percentage) would also be really useful. Again, thanks for the update. As an artist/designer, being able to have some extra options for visual content and layout would be great. People have been talking about being able to customize covers/thumbnails for individual notebooks for years, and I still have hope this might happen at some point. And having a home page/landing page with shortcuts would definitely make things much easier to navigate when you have dozens of notebooks and almost 5000 notes.
