Backup Evernote

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to backup all the data in Evernote? In case of a certain event causing the complete or partial wipeout of all the data stored in Evernote. Is there a mechanism for creating a backup to retrieve this data in this situation. For example in the old Evernote there was the capability to select all the notes and export them to a 3rd location to insure a backup copy for all the notes. However in the new Evernote that capability is no longer applicable.

You can backup the data directory for the new application using an OS backup process. Otherwise, export your notes one notebook at a time. THis is a better means of capturing the notebook structure. The Legacy ability to export all notes would, if restored, bring all notes back into a single notebook losing the notebook structure. So, even with Legacy, the best advice was to export one notebook at a time.

Evernote is a cloud service; with data stored at the Evernote servers
Before backing up the local data directory, confirm there's a local data copy (a setting in Preferences)

Agreed; I had this scripted in the Legacy product

Both PC and Mac have their own backup option.

It should be used anyhow - it is even more important for your own data than for EN, since EN is always saved in the cloud. Your local stuff (if not using a cloud service) exists only once on the local drive, if you don’t back it up yourself.
