Filtering for notes from a previous year

I've tagged a lot of notes with "tax" to retrieve items at tax time.  I looked at filter functionality but didn't see how to filter for items creates between Jan 1 2021 and Dec 31 2021.

date:year-1 give me this year and last year.

What about

created:20210101 -created:20220101

Will show notes created in 2021. There is of course a risk something was created in 2022, but containing a relevant document from 2021 or for 2021.

"date" is not a valid term   
created:20210101 returns all notes created on or after 20210101    
you need to add -created:20220101 to exclude this year's entries    
   
My process is to include the year in the tagnames; example Tax2021, Tax2022

The search syntax obviously works well. If you prefer, In V10 you can also use the filter to get the same result. You need to click the first date in the calendar first and then shift-click the last date.
