skukshtel 0
Trying to do auto update of Windows app from 10.23.7 to 10.24.3. Procedure fails and my Sophos Endpoint Agent (antispam) reports "Lockdown malicious behavior prevented in Evernote". Not so bad (antivirus worked), but this was on my work computer, so the IT guys soon spotted it and called to ask why I was using such buggy software on my work computer! Anyone seen this? Level 5* gazumped 12,054 Posted November 11, 2021 Level 5* Share Posted November 11, 2021 Hi. Getting flagged by a spam filter doesn't necessarily imply 'buggy software' - sometimes filters generate false positives. If you're happy with the current version you could just wait until Evernote issue an(other) update to cover it; but if you need to follow up for the IT guys, raise it with Evernote Support. Evernote Expert agsteele 3,059 Posted November 11, 2021 Evernote Expert Share Posted November 11, 2021 This type of issue occurs occasionally. I've seen it affect many different applications. It's is invariably a glitch with the virus database which needs to be fixed. I recall that AVG was flashing Evernote as being unsafe. It required AVG to fix its virus records. Link to comment
Level 5 PinkElephant 8,772 Posted November 11, 2021 Level 5 Share Posted November 11, 2021 Meanwhile (and when knowing of what you are doing) most antivirus software allows to define an exception yourself, or through the admins console. This will make sure the „issue that is not an issue“ will pop up with every new antivirus scan again and again. Link to comment
Claudiofpiga 59
the same happened to me ; EN support recommended me to tweak the antivirus ( authorize EN , in my case I couldn't -Corporate setup- ) , so I simply uninstalled Evernote in Windows, downloaded the latests version and reinstalled . it worked this way ; I hope next update won't bring the same issue , but it's a simple fix 1 Link to comment
AnnaCarvalho 0
It sometimes happens with anti-virus software. It’s one of the reasons I don’t use it at all. I know it’s not that safe, but it’s also too bothersome for me because those programs are too intense sometimes. They can find viruses even in the folder with your old family photos and block access to them. Link to comment
Level 5 PinkElephant 8,772 Posted December 9, 2022 Level 5 Share Posted December 9, 2022 In my opinion it is pretty safe to do without any 3rd party antivirus. Enable the build in solution provided by Microsoft - it is ranking top in most tests. Many 3rd party antivirus apps are rooting so deep into the system that they open backdoors and disable OS security measures. They are more of a risk than a solution. Link to comment
