Though I suppose one way to do this is tag all child tags with the parent tag as well - something I have not done yet myself. 1 Link to comment

Or at least there should be such a setting I prefix my tagnames to reflect the hierarchy; for example Budget, Budget-Housing, Budget-HousingUtilities I can search for tag:Budget* Link to comment

If you have „Computer“ and below it „PC“ and „Mac“, you can tag all others simply with the parent tag. Thus it depends on you tagging strategy if you want the search to drill down or not. Personally I think an extension to the search syntax could do the job, with an operator that decides whether to only include the exact level, or to drill down to child tags as well. 1 Link to comment
