@PinkElephant, sorry to railroad this topic. Where can I find a list (tasklist) of what steps are required to do to load v10 for Desktop Windows? Will v10 start the conversion of data by itself or am I to do something. I think I have enough backups of v 6x. Thanks.

@PinkElephant, thanks. I'm on Windows 10, so I have no apps. When I shut down my computer, I close all open programs. Does that log me out of legacy Evernote? (I don't have to log into Evernote when I start up the Desktop application in the morning). Should I open up a browser session of Evernote so that I don't get logged out?

Oh. 1. I install v10 2. My evernote database already exists (on Evernote servers). 3. I reinstall v6x legacy software on my Desktop. 4. I then put v6x legacy data where? 5. Somehow I tell v6x legacy not to sync. Is that it, @PinkElephant?

Currently, En v6 is on Evernote's cloud-based server. I don't have any option to control WHERE Evernote is, only where it shows up on my local Desktop. Evernote is removing their cloud-based location on 24 March. How would the replaced-Legacy version on my Desktop know to look at whatever cloud-based server I selected (e.g. Dropbox)? Almost all of my 22K notes were created locally on my Desktop. ------ P.S. I'm going to run the upgrade to v10, maybe today. But I want a backup version of Legacy Evernote so I can find stuff (for a while). I don't need it in anything but a read-only mode. From the advice on this forum, I'm not at all clear how to get there.

WHY does Evernote need to go to the cloud? My Evernote is local to my Desktop machine. Any reason I couldn't just install it back there?

@PinkElephant, how does one stay logged in if one quits the app? Do you mean logged into the web version?

I'll install v10 in the next day or so. In case v10 doesn't work for me, or while I'm getting used to it, I'd really like to maintain single-user access to Legacy Evernote on my desktop. This means I want both new and old programs. I have the system copy of current data (v6) as well as another copy of v6 data. Is it true that the v10 upgrade will delete v6 programs and data? What can I do to save/secure these source files? What do I set up on my computer to prevent Legacy evernote from trying to sync with web version? TIA.

I'm not on a cell phone, so I don't need all that white space or the text size. How do I make the content smaller? I have no interest in little boxes for each note - I want a list! I want more than 6 items on the display

Refreshing Firefox also caused a new (different) version of Web Clipper to load. Evernote Web Clipper is now back on my toolbar. There is also a toolbar icon which looks like a puzzle-piece which allows me to see all of my open Extensions. Thanks for the help!

Thanks @gazumped. The right click loads the web clipper. There's something about that approach that I don't like so much (automatically selects target notebook and tags), though it does work to capture the link. Other research suggests that I Refresh Firefox (remove customizations). It took me most of yesterday afternoon to copy links to all my open windows! I'll remark here IF that solves my issues.

I'm running Firefox 112.0.1, on Windows 10 Pro OS Build 19045.2846 The webclipper is v 7.32.1 last updated April 25. The webclipper icon has disappeared from the toolbar. I filed a help ticket. The support tech sent me a screenshot of a Mac screen option to Display Toolbar. He didn't seem to understand that Firefox doesn't have that option (after uninstalling the web clipper and rebooting). He sent me some kind of video (which I didn't watch) showing me how to unload the webclipper. He wanted me to load some third party video software so that I could prove to him that I am able to uninstall webclipper (which I also didn't do). I had asked for 2 things: 1. How to get the toolbar item back. 2. How to engage the Web Clipper from the keyboard. He did not answer either question. And provided NO information about how frequently this problem has occurred for other users (i.e. if this is a site-wide problem). I wrote a scathing report on the quality of support that I had received. No one followed up. Any ideas?

Gosh, @PinkElephant, this is the first time I have ever heard you say (read your reply) where you agreed with someone who was complaining about Evernote's shortcomings in configuring for a user's use case. Is there any way to tell Evernote (program + web clipper) I don't want it to prompt me EVER about Tasks?

I'm on Windows 10 V 6.25.1.9091 and I'm getting a pop-up note to UPGRADE which takes up a large percentage of my available screen real estate. I looked into it and I DON'T WANT TO UPGRADE. So, how do I turn off the prompt?

From inside an Evernote, my cursor rests in front of a word. Double-mouse-click will select that word. What selects that word using only the keyboard? (I've looked for this numerous times in Help)

Anyone have recommendations for a product which DOES produce pdf reliably? I'm pretty fed up. ☹️
