Personally.
I use both notebooks and tags.
notebooks would form the table of contents;
tags would be the index entries.
It is a very simple system.
Every morning, I have to make sure that all new notes are in the right notebook and properly tagged. I have a shortcut to this search that I use. The whole process take a couple of minutes.

Well I am Ok with using the Legacy version for a while. But, sure, I will look for an alternative.
With 300 notebooks and 40k notes, switching is a pensez-y bien!
Notion seems to be very interesting and quite powerful. But my workflow relies heavily on the simple yet very powerful tag/notebook system.

This is good news, although I must point out at least one feature which does not seem to be part of the Android or web platform, that I use a lot in the Windows platform: merging notes.

Hi. Is there somewhere a table where we can see that features are included in Evernote, depending on the OS?
I am especially interested to know which features are lacking from the Android version, since I will probably buy a tablet for work, and I am still on the fence between a Galaxy Tab and an Ipad.

Have you tried switching to another version of the web UI (in Settings). The latest one is a beta and is -eventually- due for an upgrade...
No. Will do if times allow..

The web client is OK, but... quite incomplete.

I was considering seriously the new Lenovo Chromebook Duet for handling my note taking during trips and surveys.
Than I asked myself: does Evernote even have a ChromeOS version?

Thanks, will do and report back.

I am having this really weird problem with Evernote on my S10 phone.
When I try to open a PDF file, from within an Evernote note, the Adobe Acrobat splash screen will appear for a brief moment, then the phone will switch to the Cyclemeter app, tring to open the PDF file with it.
The problem still exists after a complete reinitalisation of my phone.
I wrote to Cyclemeter developers about it. Then I realized that all the PDF files elsewhere on my phone, or in a Google Drive, would open normally, with Adobe Acrobat. Only the PDF files from within an Evernote note would have this very strange behaviour. So it does not appear to be a Cyclemeter problem. But just in case, as you can see on the screenshot, no file types are associated with Cyclemeter. Certainly not the PDF files.
Any clue???

An issue I always had: I often add a note using my personal evernote email address. For some reasons, unknown to me, these notes seem to decide which notebooks they belong to, and they do a very bad job at it.
Can we have the program put them in the default notebook?
-
Still doing it.
Should I upgrade now? The latest upgrades were heavily criticized last time I checked, but maybe most problems are solved by now.

After checking the startup folder and the different shortcuts I use to start the app, I see no clear reason (I did not find any "install shortcut") that may explain this.
It seems every time I restart the computer (once every 2 or 3 days), Evernote reinstall.
-
Hi. Anybody had this problem?
Evernote keeps reinstalling itself, each time I restart my desktop.
I am using 6.20.2.8626 (308626) Public. I did not upgrade to 6.22 yet after seeing posts talking about numerous issues. i do not have much time to troubleshoot things these days.
Thanks, have a good day.

You are right, it searches within the notebook, i was confused by the text appearing in the French version which seems to imply that it was searching through all notes. I should have tested a bit more. Thanks!

Hi.
Although I use Evernote all the time (32 500+ notes), I am struggling with the lack of consistency between the editions I use (Windows, web-based, Android).
How is it possible to search within a notebook in the Android client? It seems there is no way to reduce the scope of the search, while you can easily do that in the web-based and Windows client.
Also: is it possible to merge two notes in the web-based client and the Android client?

Don't worry, my English is what it is (not my 1st language).
But to be absolutely precise: I mean searching (or filtering) a tag from inside a notebook. With 33K notes, I have to combine techniques.
-
Well, in Windows, while in a notebook, you have this tag icon on the top of your notes list that act as a filter. This is a very useful behaviour and I would be very happy to see this tool in Android.
-
I have a simple question:
when u open a notebook, can u filter it with a tag, like u do quite easily in Windows? I could not find a way...

Hi. I've never used an iPhone, so don't know how an Android would compare; plus I don't know what you use your iPhone for... but I can search through my 46K notes reasonably easily and add new notes via keyboard or camera as I need. It might be useful to explain how you regard the Windows client as being 'flawed', because I do most of my heavy Evernoting via the Windows client, and limit use of the Android to mobile data access and acquisition.
It is the most unbearably slow software I have on Windows. By far.
I used all the recommanded tricks: re-installing, indexing, etc. It is just a terrible experience.
I have to use the firewall trick to make it somehow useful. (

My iPhone 6s just died on me. And I am seiously considering the switch to a Samsung S10.
How is the performance of Evernote for Android?
I have more than 31,000 notes. And the Windows client is seriously flawed, from my point of view. Still, Evernote is an integral part of my workflow.

Sorry -- that was a joke. HIMEM.SYS from the days of DOS on PCs. It's been irrelevant for about twenty years or so, but I figured @gazumped would know about it.
Good old days!

Did you forget to configure HIMEM.SYS? Very important, you know...
Can u guide me through this?
I'll do anything hat can speed things up.
I have close to 30K notes and I am one of the users complaining a lot about the slowness of Evernote.

Curious. My version is running about the same speed. How slow is your version running.
There is a thread on the subject.

and another one...

Please... make this software run instead of crawling...
This is all I ask from now on. The features are already there.
PDF annotations...

Anybody trier to annotate PDF files with the new version? I cannot zoom in the page. Maybe i am missing something?
