  1. Bit of frustration here.

    Following suggestions.

Uninstall (with Revo), re-install, let Evernote synchronized, click on the Files icon, went for a (long) walk. Came back.

    Same results: spinning wheel.

Yes I have a lot of files and a lot of notes (close to 47 000). Still... in this day and age, displaying a directory should not be complicated.

It has been said so many times: Evernote should stop create new features and make the app rock solid.

The thing I have not tried: trash the database. Should I try? (70 Gb, 323 000 files).

  2. Although I hate it, I will uninstall with Revo and reinstall in order to see if the Files feature can work.

If a fresh install is necessary, to use a new feature the developer should say so. It would be less frustrating than the eternal cycle: upgrade, try, does not work, try again, does not work, upgrade again, try, does not work, start or contribute to a thread here, lof of, log in, try, does not work... I mean, they must know about it, no?

  3. I would like to know if there is a technique on Android that allows me to replicate the following workflow, used on the Windows version of Evernote. I have several notes containing Excel files as attachments. I like to open these Excel files from within an Evernote note to edit them. On Windows, the note is automatically updated with the edited Excel file. Is it possible to perform the same operation on Android?

As a matter of fact there is no need to backup anything. The local database can always be created from the server (although it takes some days on large accounts).

If you want to protect the existing local database, just locate it (the path is listed in the new field, right beside the menu to move it).

Make a copy „as it is“ to a different medium, like an external drive or an USB stick. Backup done …

Now proceed with moving it to another location.

    Still...

One of the reason I did not stay with Nimbus was that my notes could not be transferred easily on another platform. Your work belongs to you. And that is one of the things I loved about the old Evernote. You could export everything quite easily to a couple of more universal formats.

I noticed something strange on my win10/ EN v10 yesterday.  I needed to refer to a note that had two images in it.  The images were photos of a contract that I had taken days ago and sent to EN.  For some reason I could not see the images at all.  On the left I could see the tiny thumbnail with the two images; but on the main screen...nothing.  I tried different things and finally went to a win7 machine running Legacy.  Sure enough the two images were there.  After a while they also appeared on the v10  machine.  This is not the first time and it's troublesome because my first reaction is to think that I messed up and the content is lost.

Yes this happens to me from time to time too. I think if I change the focused note while it is generating the preview of another, something bad happens. A bit scary.
