Tags also allow for notes that fit multiple categories; for example a Cardio Video

Yes, that example was not a good one but this new hierarchy can be used like this, Especially if you are not a tag person. I am a sort of tag person but I like to organize by notebooks as well and this can give that one step more orgainisabilty for notes.

Introduction:

We all know that Evernote uses the system of notes and notebooks. The notes live within notebooks and the notebooks can be stacked into stacks. This is a true reflection of the hierarchy of notes and notebooks in real life, if you want more flexibility you use tags. This is the way it is and has been in Evernote, as the hierarchy is made to reflect that of the real life. However there is one type of hierarchy that can be used in notebooks in real life that Evernote does not have.

The Idea:

we all may have had notebook form time to time, by that i mean actual physical notebooks, you may have noticed in some notebooks there are tabs that separate pages and notes from other notes/pages. This example picture shows you what I mean:

Now we can reflect this in Evernote, what i mean is with this feature you are able to group notes within notebooks, so for example lets say we have a notebook(Evernote one) that contains notes on lets say fitness, in there you may have notes on cardio, leg exercises, videos of exercises, your own routines. The power users would make dashboards to add some control or some may use tables of content to organize, but most people do not have time to make complex dashboards if the example was larger. however if we were able to use this feature you could group notes into groups depending on what you want, so in this example you may group notes into sections such as: Cardio, Aero, Legs, Body, Back or... lets say : Exercises, videos, Your routines, Your plans. You get the idea, I am aware that this example is not for everybody but in your mind if you  think of a case scenario , you will see there are notebooks that would benefit form this a lot, and i am bold enough to say that there will be at least one notebook for everybody that will benefit from this.

Next steps:

if you like the idea please up vote it. upvoting does not mean that the devs will definitely add this feature but at least it will bring it to their eyes. Also, unlike other features you may have seen in feature request this is not asking for something radical, infact it sticks to the rules that Evernote has followed, it is a hierarchy that is realistic, something that you would find in actual notebooks.  It is a feature that takes it form their perspective as well as ours , also one that is reasonable and can be integrate into Evernote easily. So if you do like this idea please upvote and tag people to spread it.

yes, @PinkElephant i was thinking of suggesting that he uninstall all versions and clear data then reinstall them to see if it fixes it but i felt that if this was a issue with notes rather than a display bug then he could lose notes, and these could be important notes and that would be not ideal for anyone especially when you have a large amount of notes then you would only know that you have lost a note when you come to need the note, the best advice then would be for @FunkyPlaid  to get a support ticket with EN and hopefully it solves it.

i feel that they have gotten rid of switching to the old editor, to switch you will have to switch the browser EN to old EN which may or may not be a good option for you. you can switch by going to account info and there will be an option to switch to the old EN. if you need any help make sure you reply with my name or qoute.

Thanks for your help guys but do you know how to fix the note discrepancies between non legacy version as @FunkyPlaid is suffering from that as well. also the local notebooks should not be a problem because en(new) already searches for those and even if it missed it will pick then up again, and again if it didn't do that you can manually do that by changing one line in a json file, therefore i don't think that local notebooks are the problem. however it may be for the legacy that you @PinkElephant are right but he will still have the issue for the non legacy version. i know what you are saying @gazumped when i used the legacy version and made notes they took a long time to sync to the non legacy devices. However the courrupted notes should not be a problem for non legacy version because en has made it so it will copy the note and delete the corrupted, it will do so as well if it thinks it may be corrupted in the future, due to this there was a bug that by mistake made too many copies of the file, which is now fixed.

This should not be hard for a large company like that, i know many people who as a small team or duo that do this singlehandedly while having other jobs, with a large customer base as well -rem****, I am starting to question the integrity of their developers.

try re-scanning it and re-uploading. alternatively you could upload it form another device or into another notebook then move it to desired notebook later. Hope this help, its not a fix to bug but a way around.

ok @DaveGey i am sorry for the inconvenience, even though it is EN that should be apologizing (which they never do). Lets hope that this gets solved in the new update.

It shouldn't be an issue with shared notes or notebooks, as all shared notes should still be accessible from the account no matter the device, both incoming and outgoing shares. It's not a Trash issue, and it's not an identifiable setting like offline downloaded notebooks on different devices. I'm especially concerned about the c.300 missing notes between 10 and Legacy on the same desktop computer.

Would someone on the Evernote team please explain what this is all about? If it's still a bug or known issue, why has this not been taken care of in the seven years it's been flagged repeatedly? If there's a reason, would you please let us know? It seems to me that this should be a baseline functionality that needs to be shored up and explained before any further bells and whistles are added to the next iteration of the service.

wow this is a serious issue, i am shocked this has not been solved by now. I am quite new so i myself have not experienced this so i am not able to help. I can see your frustration, however have you tried taking a support ticket with Evernote, i understand that with Premium you get direct email support with them, even if this does not work there are ways to DM the Mod/staff in this forum/site so have a try and see. To warn it may take a few days for them to reply through here and much more through the support ticket. I will also like to see this issue resolved because this is very true:                                                                                                                                                                                     (also i would not like this to happen to anyone as well)

while going through the forums i spotted a bug that could help you with your problem, i have not tested this method which is what i would normally do before recommending anything to anyone, since your bug is very unique. The bug is that when you encrypt the text the text loses all special characters/ special formatting or any formatting and turns it into pure plain text. I don't now if this bug works on everyone but if it happens on your as well the try encrypting the text and decrypting it again to remove any unwanted stuff that could be interfering with it. if this works then this will be the first time i have seen a bug fixed with another bug  .  good luck @DaveGey

In general if a company does not allow other software than what is officially permitted, I would play by the rules. You must be aware that everything that passes through a company network can be supervised by their admins. If you want to access EN while on the job, use a mobile device instead that is not dialed into the company WiFi.

unfortunately as good advice as that is it is not helpful to this problem and you never know the situation he/she is in.

English : hmm, if this is a web problem then clearing cache and browser history works pretty well @User F, this happened to me where it didn't let me log in in a public computer but i cleared data, cache and cookies and it worked perfectly until it happened again and i did it again and it worked again.

tags have been a issue for quite a lot of people unfortunately, so yes web may be your best bet.

uninstall and re install, and what do you mean tasks , the new feature?? are you on beta?? to check version go to settings then apps and evernote and scroll down and it shows version, or look in playstore

use old editor , this is a common bug and using the old editor eliminates it for now.

It does not happen on the web version. Only on the Mac. I'm not using the mobile version yet so I don't know about that one.

sign out, chose clear my data from this computer and then log back in. should solve it but an inconvenience if you have lots of notes.
