If you are true, the current Android, Windows, Mac users should not be able use Evernote now as they still don't have the update.

    isn't that nonsense?

As we all know Android, Windows, Mac users still have the old frontends which haven't built up new on the new code base.
(And they all are working simultanously though each of this frontends so far works with a still native Android-, Windows or Mac- codebase).

It just has been a long time stategical decision of Evernote, may be 2 years ago, to set all 5 clients (including the web interface) on an common code base, which has better chances to be economically maintained, preserved and further developed.

"Keeping (up) both versions" will cost a lot of ressources which may not be given or better may be invested in getting this thing ready soon...

Even though I miss a couple of things in v10.0.x, I don't want the old version back. While waiting for helping updates on iOS I will use other frontends  like my Android-phone, the meanwhile very improved editor in the web-version or my desktop-app for single missing features.

I never liked the iPad for scanning. The device just does not fit, and if it casts a shadow, it is a large shadow.

What I really like is my ScannerPro on my iPhone. It allows to pick the 2x-camera of my iPhone 11 Pro Max, which doubles the distance to the document. This eliminates all shadows cast by the very device used for the scanning.

Furthermore I have predefined workflows in ScannerPro that I can select through the share function. I have my most used scanning jobs into EN here, complete with the target notebook and a set of standard tags for nearly 10 scanning types, like receipts, recipes, general documents etc. This is far better than both options offered by EN.

o.k. - that in fact is far better for recurring jobs, I will check ScannerPro.

But except from that the internal scanner app of EN used to be good enough for simple workflows, especially without needs for tagging or long time storing. While the past Corona-time with home office and home scoring this was pretty good just to collect some fast scans mobile to evernote then to change to desktop and convert to plain text (with ABBYY Screenshot reader), may be do some formating and then to do the final work very for job, for school, for teaching oder coaching very fast with the free to use resulting text or vocabs ...

  3. Scanning documents with v10.0.# in IOS 14  doesnˋt work as good in my case as before neither.

    • If I take a series of pictures the new automatic scanning sometimes works to fast and takes lots of pictures before I can adjust the ipad after turning pages for scanning more than one page
    • as already mentioned somewhere else it isn‘t anymore possible to adjust the size of taken scans in another way than rectangle
    • If I take more than just a very few number of pictures editing and resizing of single pictures in the queue before saving happens to be impossible. Opened for editing some pictures will only be shown as black and blank, only with the rectangle for resizing. In other cases I get another picture displayed than chosen and if saved the chosen scan will be changed against the wrong picture (coming of the clipboard?)
    • after saving it doesn‘t only take a rather long while until the pictures are uploaded or to see on the display. Sometimes even not  all of the taken scans will show up.

So there is still some work to do before scanning documents to evernote with the internal scanner with ipad is as good as bedore.

(Scanning documents with the Ipad and with the internal scanner of the EN app used to be so strong that I built some of my workflows around this feature...)

  4. "Checklist" is a new feature coming with the new editor which so far is only implemented in the web-version and in the freshly updated iOS version.

It probably won't come in the desktop app for Windows before rebuilding and delivering this completly new built from the scratch on a new code base.

But looking at the actual hot discussions about bugs and lots of so far not implemented former features and functions of the new iOS version we better should leave time for evernote to get this fully tested and completeted with all functions we relay on.

What caught me out was that I don't remember previous updates dleting all my data and there was no mention of deleting in the update script. Had there been one I would have done things differently.

The difference to prior updates ist that this release was completely new built on a new code base. This leads to the point that probably all data had to be new organized (and als well reloaded and reconstructed) completely new. In contrast prior updates mostly have just been "updates" which used the same data basis for notes.

Maybe they haven't been able to attract and retain top talents?

Maybe they are just not ready and we - unfortunately - all discuss the worse parts of a non complete beta version which can be optimized in a couple of two weektime sprints ... (I donˋt know what kind of pressure lead to the decision to let this version out in this stadium but I am quite sure that this was not just because of a bloody management decision without  any knowledge or interest  about bugs and missing features. There might be some more internal or serious economical reasons. But anyway, after this going public they surely have all reasons to concentrate on this getting fixed soon...)

But lets get back to that Elektron thing: I think it is not consequent to damn Evernote to set on Elektron and then to change to a system which is already and as well solved with Elektron.

I'm an Evernote user since July 2011 and I exported all my notes to Notion. It's incredibly faster than the new Evernote App. The only downside is there is no way to e-mail notes to Notion, I hope it's coming soon.

I read that Notion is also realized with Elektron, isn't it?

So if Notion is nevertheless fast enough for you to change, why shouldn't Evernote manage to improve its actual app to a sufficient performance in the further process?

  8. Weird behavior with permantly lost input:

While I try to edit the title with inserting text, may be shortly stopping input or thinking about a singular word or better phrases the app seems to immediately start syncing the title text in the background.

This leads to the point that all further inputs get lost when the app refreshes the title after syncing in the background. Additionally cursor or selection move to a different point. The app then interpretes the meanwhile entered text and I get a messed text with accidentially overwritten words and phrases.

  9. Same as with @NightStalker:

when I try to clip web-content via sharing with evernote I get a popup panel where I am asked for the titel of the new note in an empty title field. (Titel of content as suggest would be better...). after finishing this action I get a success message which tells me to wait for up to some  minutes.

But at the end the clipped content doesnˋt show up in evenote.... No difference if I clip in safari or in chrome...

Sorry, now literally a couple of minutes later I have to correct myself: The clipped content found its way to my evernote inbox, but much to slow and not allways complete:

My test clippings seemed to need up to at least 5 minutes. This is much slower than with version 8. That just feels like „not working...“

With checklist, you can easily drag-and-drop them and indent them like other lists. In addition, completed checklist items are crossed out and faded so that you can more easily see at a glance which items remain.

Because inline checkboxes could appear inline after text, we have kept them as a separate type, but we removed the list-like continuation behavior in order to emphasize that they are standalone checkboxes, in contrast to the new checklists.

Look forward to hear your thoughts on it.

I was using the list-like continuation behavior for inline checkboxes for example in numerous lists for recipe ingredients: Only missing ingredients to buy on my shopping tour get activated. So I quickly can see, what's (only) missing.

If I use the newer checklist instead the things to be remembered and focussed on are crossed and faded... So here I can't more easily see at a glance which items "remain" to buy...

(Sure this can be acchieved with a simple bullet list combined mit manually inserted inline checkboxes for each item, but the former behavior was better, at least for me...)

I only use Evernote on the web.
How do I export my data? Just want to have a backup of notes.
I searched and only found this: https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/209005557-How-to-export-content-from-Evernote
This does not give the answer I need.

I think there is no other senseful way to export evernote web notes than just to print-out, for example as temporay pdf-copies.

The solution in https://help.evernote.com/hc/en-us/articles/209005557-How-to-export-content-from-Evernote are as written there "only available in Evernote for Mac or Windows".
(Evernote-apps for Mac or Windows are worth a try, they give you quite a lot of additional functions, at least for organizing and administration of your notes.)

The downside of the "new" interface is that to go to the hyperlink of notes that were added using the web clipper it now takes 5 steps :

    • Click the 3 dots in the top right
    • Click note info
    • Click in the url field
    • Press control A to select the whole link
    • then right click to select the option to go to that link

on the previous version it is just displayed in the top right hand corner and you can click on it!

Hey that is so much easier isn't it NOT!!!!

That ist the reason why there is allready a separate and reactivated issue for this additional topic, see:

  13. Well, if I'm right, evernote has allready added a kind of mini-fix to this issue:

Meanwhile you (mostly/often/allways?!?) get a link to the source-page in the top of the content from a clipped page.
This link may be hidden in the non reformatted content-preview as long you don't click on the wizzard icon for reformating.

But I'm with all of you: this ist not a real fix and no permanent and satisfying solution for our above written needs".

This content-link is often not visible and can easily be deleted by accident or by mistake.
An editabe and direct functional link in a separate field is far better...
