  1. Just to make it sure: Evernote is in my eyes primarily a noting taking app, not a spell checking app...

I’do agree that it is helpful to have a fully working spell checking routine. But programming a completely new version from scratch and ground in a new environment every „basic“ feature is starting as additional feature to add, when time has come. And even if spell checking is a common feature implementing this - without to much additional bad effects for memory consumption or battery drain - may be quite a challenge...

But may be you may give us and EN light and vision how to do this en passent?

What are you even trying to say?
As I understand you don't even use any android device, so it's fine for you as it is regarding android Evernote v10 release situation and we android users should be happy, because iOS v10 release was even worse?

Yes, this could be the right interpretation. In fact there are very many issues and complains with the rather unified iOS versions. With Android there are a couple of additional problems to face by EN. Unlike with iOS there are many different branded Android versions. Technical equipment often isn‘t as strong and high end as on apple products. issues with battery drain, memory consumption and low performance may be much bigger with Android than with iOS...

I am having an (upper class) Android mobile. And I have experience with every v10version  on my iOS ipad 2019 since 17th September 2020. I am not very eager to try out Evernote v10 on my mobile until EN gets things fixed and running smooth. Don‘t want to take part in another worldwide life-betatest with my well working Android mobile...

  3. Setting solely probably won‘t help anything anyway. This only will give the possibility to change the default language the chromium machine in EN v10s Electron base uses for spellcheck to another language. This will not help with multi-language texts or with special words, e.g. technical or legal.

Therefore v10 must get a full set of personalized spellcorrection features, including a user dictionary, dialogs and spellcorrection routines. That is a much thicker board to drill...

  4. IMHO this is the standard clipping routine with v10 since the first release on 16th October 2020. It‘s obviously slower and more complicated than before, but meanwhile it is at least working reliably.

And you choose this topic to deeply criticize v10 in whole - once again and now? Didn‘t you make this point already with other issues? If we are talking about clipping on iOS wouldn‘t it be better to start a request for improving in the request forum?

But I‘m sure, you probably get more likes this way...

(To much criticism, to negative mood, to simple point of views, to less constructive discussions nowadays in these forums IMHO anyway.)

  5. I think if you only need poor and cheap functionalities you might better watch out for other solutions. If I‘d run Evernote and try to deliver an upper quality and feature rich product, yielding for top of the market I probably wouldn‘t try to set up a third, discounter like product, next to premium and freemium-basic. It‘s just take it or leave it... (I so far have never regretted the price I pay for premium!)

  6. Sorry I have to add that this is a user to user forum. That´'s why me and others may not feel addressed if you ask me or us for making the sidebar/lists-behaviour consistent across all our(?) apps. (Evernote staff may look in eventually, but by looking at the actual needs and number of posts and support issues they have to deal with they probably won't find the time to answer here themselves...)

Additionally you are posting in a general discussion with an issue with seems to regard iOS v10 most.

If you look at the posts to iOS you will see that there are allready some complains about to many time-taking clicks and swipes at the mobile version compared with the desktop versions.

And by the way: the behaviour across all apps and plattforms in v10 is in general much more consistent (and hardly streamlined and stripped down) than before..

  7. Autoformatting and autocorrection in v10 from paragraphs beginning with checkboxes to checklist (with strikethrough-behavior) ist not an issue, it is a design "feature" of the actual v10-version. So there is no hope that this behavior will be changed or "fixed" or removed.

If you want to use list with checkboxes instead of a checklist with strikethrough behavior, just like me in some cases, there still is a simple solution and workaround:

Just begin your list-paragraphs with a single space before you add your checkbox - by the way: fastest with the markdown-command "[]".
This will break and stop the autoformat and autocorrection from list with checkboxes to checklist ...

I am sorry but this problem has not been fixed. How can I switch off word spelling check?

I'm sorry too, but so far there seems to be no option and no chance to switch (probably in EN v10-Electron-base capsulated Chromium-browser driven) spell check of.
(I think EN is working on this...)

If it get's to hard just use the legacy version instead. (like Alxa recommended)

A family plan would make Evernote more acceptable within my family.

Same with me. I would appreciate a family plan as well. Have to kids and a wife who I would like to use EN systematically and deeply. Limitated with basic they seem to have no reason to try it out deeper...

Have they ever implemented an actual feature request—of any kind or type?

    E.g.

    • dark mode
    • modernized editor
    • fast formatting with markdown codes
    • Bringing back top-list-view
    • fast accessible overview over keyboard-hotkeys on desktop versions
    • ...

    any more questions?

    • Thanks 1
  11. This issue / request is already discussed several times. In conclusion there is no hope that this behavior will be changed and removed again.

If you want to use list with checkboxes instead of a checklist with strikethrough behavior, just like me for my grocery list as well, there still is a simple solution and workaround:

Just begin your list-paragraphs with a single space before you add your checkbox - by the way: fastest with the markdown-command "[]".
This will break and stop the autoformat and autiocorrection of v10 from list with checkboxes to checklist ...

  12. I guess you all may discuss this for ages without any effort.

EN decided to introduce checklists with v10 as a new special list environment with strikethrough feature like many other apps do and use, e.g. dropbox paper or tasks. For those who do not like this behavior or who need checkboxes for other purposes - like me in some cases - EN still offers checkboxes, which can be used inside paragraphs or at the beginning of a paragraph while proceeded with at least one char, for example a single space.

I am quite sure there is no one in the company who will change this decision and spend money and energy on taking back this feature, only for one part of the userbase, while other where asking for this.

Let´s better concentrate on other things to get this ready for use and to fix bigger problems...

  13. Yes that is a very nasty and annoying behavior of the new iOS version.

Flow of work between more than one, non multitasking apps while note taking and constructing  is permanently disrupted, forcing to use other solutions for better workflow. This probably will not even be a good argument to gain new paying  (power) users, not to talk about acceptance with existing users.
