  1. Support is quite inundated - we as other users can't really help you with this. We can just ask you to be patient, or use the ticket list on the help pages (requires a login) to look after the ticket.

For the future these steps can make sure your account is safe:

    • Store the 2FA codes safely and where you can access them, for use whenever the dynamic code is not available
    • Make sure your phone is safe, using the different locking options and biometrics. You can in addition set up these measures for the EN account as well if you wish (Remark: I personally don't use it)
    • Use an Authenticator that can be use on several devices, not only on a single one. I personally use Authy as independent authenticator app, synced over several devices.
  2. Given how the updater usually keeps all clients current, I doubt you did just now get that option. This was 5 releases back - introduced with 10.81, we are now on 10.86. Maybe you didn't notice it before. They have stuck it into the 3 dots menu, probably to include the web client, but I would not have looked it up there by myself if I had not known where to go.

  3. We should not forget some aspects here: 1) Lower level plans as well keep some users away from the higher level, 2) every account comes with a base cost impact, that does not alter a lot with account sizes.

If I take a typical low budget account (say 50% of Personal), in terms of the bottom line impact it is not in the middle. It is a lot closer to actually break even, than to the higher level plan. You can probably afford to loose 10 users from such a budget plan, if this means 1 or 2 fully paying users either stay with the more expensive subscription, or don't downgrade over time.

It's not only the number of users that is relevant.

What bugs me more is how will be the strategy to actually win new subscribers. "Will be" because currently I mainly see them correcting mistakes from the past.

  4. If I remember well, we had this very same discussion when the Home Screen (ver. 1) was released. EN made the app to always open on Home, and users complained about it until a settings option was introduced. So open with Home, or where you left.

New team, lost experience, and here we are: Discussions about a toggle for starting with or w/out Home, ver. 2.

  5. The option to set an own standard font size was probably one of the most requested features when v10 launched.

As we can see today, it has not yet materialized. Send your request to the feedback-address. Explain why it would be important for yourself, and probably for many other users as well. It is not just an issue of aging, it has an accessibility impact for every user with impaired eyesight as well.

  6. You can align left (default) center or right. Done.

If you need finer control, enter a table, make the columns the width you want and place the picture into a table cell. This allows as well to control the picture size - it will be the width of the table column.

These are the options. For finer layout control use a word processor or a page layout software.

  7. The oldest iPhone able to run EN v10 is the iPhone 6S / 6S+. It will go up to iOS 15.

But I wouldn’t recommend it (had it a while as my backup phone) for EN: It struggles with the app and is slow. OK for retrieval, less for active use.

I think you should watch out for an iPhone 11 or up. Can be refurbished, but then check the battery or get it replaced if at or below 80% health.

  8. @Colinz No offense intended.

It is simply a fact, and wrapping it into some marketing speech doesn’t make it different: The „old“ EN is dead. There were probably users who just wanted a simple note app, with good syncing, OCR and search.

History showed this user segment didn’t carry the business model - EN was even not profitable when they just maintained the legacy clients, without any progress. Instead they build up technical debt. So the owners decided to sell.

If the new owners would do more of the same, they would get more of the same. So they decided to take the service (and it’s users) to new areas of uses.

We all need to watch where this course will take us. We are committing with a yearly subscription, and can renew or skip when it becomes due. We assign a finite amount of money, and that keeps us covered.

And when it becomes due again it’s decision time. That’s all.

  9. The forum is user2user. You can send your idea to EN staff through this link:

    feedback@evernote.com

In principle I like your idea - it describes a problem for many languages, not only French. As a word of caution: AFAIK the characters with accents are not stored as the original character plus an accent character. They are different characters, with a different character code in binary form. This means an index can not simply „forget“ the accent „character“ - it needs to make a conversion into the base character. Of course this is possible, if coded.
