Also, in case you weren't aware, Evernote is now owned by Bending Spoons which is an EU-based company and Evernote HQ has also moved to the EU.

Nonetheless the international privacy page https://evernote.com/privacy/policy with the official (english language) privacy terms names three companies in Brazil, Switzerland and des USA to contact for privacy issues or questions. No EU-based contact. I am wondering how long this obviously outdated and intransparent information will stay undetected. They updated it in 05.2023 (whilst ownership of Bending Spoons). As a EU-based customer of a EU-based company I would expect to see contacts and information matching EU regulatories.

  2. My experience was that if I once updated a device to EN10 you afterwards will not be able to reinstall EN8.13.3 on Android >=10 without the extra mile to support to grant access (reporting your IP and so on). So maybe don't try it out on your Android 13 device if you want to avoid the risk of being forced to use EN10.

The Play Store says EN10 would eventually be availabe to devices running Android 6-9, too. But this text is there since introduction of EN10 years ago and nothing happened. Now I would guess they cut the cord for EN 8.13.3 if user base running older devices gets small enough in the future so they don't care of losing them. Pretty funny that EN8.13.3 suggests to update even on Android 9...where there is no actual update available.

  3. Thanks for the excellent article and insights. Sounds really promising! I somehow missed words about the once announced meta data sync. RTE is good, but everything else regarding sync between clients beside RTE is still slow (e.g. home updating on mobile) and often intransparent.  On mobile the Android client  is still far away from being stable and competitive regarding speed. Long term bugs (e.g. image rendering fails), still leave a bad taste. Sadly no words on the Android client.

  4. Since @Federico Simionato unpinned this topic I wanted to update the thread: The bug is persistent and has not been resolved yet. Using a freshly updated EN 10.53.1 on Android I immediately got the bug again on the second note I opened ("image could not be rendered properly"). A note which showed correctly before. @Federico Simionato: Is this topic worked on (being unpinned I think not?).  I see this bug on Android since the introduction of EN10. Thank you.

  5. As feature parity on the clients was one of the announced benefits (or excuses? 😁) of using a unified framework, I would expect that note history would finally be pop up on mobile as well. From my user perspective there is no reason why I should not have this option on mobile as well. But maybe not the sky but the React framework is the limit now.

There are by design no note conflicts any more.

They can only happen if you follow your nostalgic strain, and run legacy with outdated sync in parallel. But that’s a deprecated version and is not advisable.

If the design would work consistently, yes. But if the Android app is once again stuck and does not show the "smooth sync experience" ...which unhappily happens every once in a while ... I indeed get note conflicts as @Brian_Kexperiences. Unfortunately on Android you cannot see if the sync has stopped working again. Sometimes you realize too late, that the EN app for Android has stalled the sync. No matter what you do, it then will not sync until you clear ram, cold start the app or even reboot the device. I guess to prevent that @Brian_Kmanually triggers sync on Android regularly.

I would speak about the sync being smooth if it was a reliable no-brainer for the end user 😉. Hopefully Evernote reaches this state when they introduce they overhauled meta data sync and - finger crossed - reestablish background syncing capability for mobile (as before on Android) again.

  7. Thank you for the link. This is really a huge roll back step. Just checked, onboarding for windows users still not possible as there is no official windows client download offered. Something serious must be going on... Lost trust in the software and the new development handling with it, switched to legacy only on windows until this is sorted out by Evernote.

But why the hell it is impossible to EN to simply remove this damned version from their download servers? 🤔

Actually I think the windows version is not for download anymore. On my windows machines https://evernote.com/de-de/download only gives me the link to the 10.54.4 version for mac (.dmg). No windows download on the official website actually. Obviously a roll back for mac, too. No idea, why they do not offer the roll back for windows, too. Maybe only a bad linking?

  9. I would most love if such bugs would never be distributed. A bug rendering any EN for Android useless when passcode activated (see the dozens of user comments in Play Store flooding). Again, how could this not be observed by basic testing before release? By the way: the temporary fix is still not available for my devices in Play Store.  I am ending up in a bug-in, bug-out loop with Android development now with every new release I guess. Worse than ever before now. 😔

  10. Glad to see I am not alone. Once again I have to say: How can quality control not see this bug. A main feature: search broken. Error messages leading to high blood pressures... Why are users beta testers?🤷🏼‍♂️ We now get these kind of bugs with every new release. Absolutely nothing to be seen of the announced quality over quantity. I am losing the last confidence in this app. Meanwhile they are still offering the 10.59.5 as a direct download on their page...

  11. Just happening again. Typing a task title, switching to set due date, after setting date I notice 90% of the task title is gone, only the first characters left. First time I thought I had been distracted. But then it happened again and again from time to time. Would really appreciate if Evernote would really fix this sooner than later.
