Too small a customer base for Evernote to care. And Remarkable doesn’t seem to think their product needs to sync with 3rd party apps, which is a mistake.

Are you emailing the OCR'd text or as a PDF? I am emailing it as a PDF. Shouldn’t Evernote do the OCR?

I have tried emailing remarkable notes to Evernote, but they are not found when searching a word I have written in the note. I have made sure the word I searched for was clearly written and legible. It seems like Evernote is not doing OCR on these emailed notes. I am strictly a MAC and IOS user. Is there a setting or something I need to do, for Evernote to OCR the emailed PDF note?

Can't search on MacBook (evernote 10.7.6) and iPhone.

It appears to delete, but then it reappears with the failed to delete message.

When I delete notes on iphone, it seems to work, but then a few seconds later I get a message for each note saying failed to delete!! See below screenshot of msg: Thank you, jeff

Unfortunately this is Not ready for prime time! Please give us back the legacy version until these many bugs are worked through!!!!! The new search function can be a great improvement, but not until this new platform is stable! thanks, jeff

I said “Real Competitor”. They may be viewed as competitors in a google search, but that does not make them true competitors for a large percentage of Evernote’s base. How can they compete without the ability to come close in many of the areas that make us Evernote cusomers? (I.e. Search functionality). The other apps are like college teams competing with pro teams. Would you call them competitors? Right now Evernote is in a league of its own. I only wish one of the companies would step up their game to truly compete. Or, maybe they don’t see Evernote’s market worthy to compete for - Too big of an investment, for too small of a customer base.

You took my comment a little too literal. I do not expect Microsoft for example to make changes to their product in response to user every request, let alone respond to every user request. In Evernote’s case, there is a request from many users, quite a few years old, for a capability that has been responded to with “we are working on it”. If there is not a large enough user base asking for something, or if it just isn’t a priority, at least set the community’s expectation appropriately. In your above statement re: “market forces”, I assume you are including their existing customer base?

To be clear, when I said “unfortunately”, it was in regards to there being no one nipping at Evernote’s heels The only winner without competition is the company, not the consumer. But, I must admit Evernote has come a long way without a real competitor. Kudos to them. Competition is healthy - It helps expedite improvement for consumers. Without competition we would still be using rotary phones and paying cost per minute to other states. For the record, this is coming from a sales leader in the IT industry for more than 30 years. With respect to your comment re: use the software built for your need. I 100% agree. I only have one capability (merging notes in IOS) gripe, but this is not a specific capability improvement discussion. We obviously are all in this discussion for the same reason - we have an affinity for Evernote and a vested interest in Evernote for ourselves and the many folks using it based on our recommendation.

I too have searched for alternatives, due to some of Evernote’s operating issues and inability to deliver on some promised capabilities. Unfortunately, from what I have seen, Evernote is still #1. I am premium and have been using Evernote from their early days. With respect to cost, it drives me crazy when people want a quality service for free. This is exactly the reason most goods in this country are manufactured in China. You get what you pay for. Free does not exist! Companies need to make money!! Free is temporary or you are paying through annoying ads or by giving away your information, which has much more value than you would be willing to pay! With this said, I am ok with paying a fair price for Evernote. But, if Evernote is going to charge for their service, they at least need to honestly respond to our requests and concerns. If all resources are focused on putting out fires and keeping up the the unenviable job of ensuing Evernote works with the many operating system updates, I can handle that answer. My #1 priority is keeping my data secure and not losing any of it! I am a very loyal customer and do not want to leave Evernote. I have not looked at other services to save money. Why would I, if Evernote delivered quality service at a fair price? Maybe I am not the norm here. Maybe most other customers are always looking for a better price or a free ride. Maybe the internet has ruined a company’s ability to compete by delivering better service, rather than a better price. But, I don’t think I am wrong. Been happening to me all day today on ipad pro. Locks up, have to quit app and reopen to use evernote.

I don’t know if they are cash flow positive, but our (consumer) problem will be their focus on Salesforce and other B2B opportunities. We are onsie, twosies. B2B could be 10’s of millions. One loud voice vesus many small (us) ones. The question will be twofold. 1. Can they focus on B2B and consumer at the same time? Doubtful. 2. Will they even care about retail if B2B is sucessful? And the positive third-fold is, will we benefit from a B2B windfall? Doubtful.

Maybe I am old, but I would have voted for merge before dark mode. On another note, Evernote seems to be freezing on my ipad lately. Anyone else see any performance issues of late?

Pink Elephant, while I am sure you are a quality engineer, trying to find easier ways for Evernote to roll out a long overdue capability, the last thing they need is for us telling them how to do it. I am sure they have or could get the proper devlopers to work on this. The issue is usually financial constraints, not lack of knowledge. Maybe the Evernote owners are fat dumb and happy, trying to spend as little as possible, not wanting to cut into the profits, assuiming there are profits. Or, they are squeaking by or possibly still running in the red, which I doubt with the number of Premium users they have enrolled. There is no business more profitable than a software company selling licenses. Highest margin biz in IT. The toughest part is growing the user base over multiple years. Once the base is established they are printing money, until which time they wake up and find a new kid on the block is walking in their doors to shut their lights. Then, its too late to deliver Merge!

Annah, I understand running a cloud app service is not easy, especially with the many operating systems it needs to work with. What I don’t understand is, wouldn’t 90%+ of the day to day usage be from a smart phone or tablet? Knowing this, why does notes merge keep getting pushed down the priority list, behind other hgher priority topics? I would think there are teams dealing with bugs 24x7, the same as all app service providers. Then there is probably a team dealing with customer demand for “more”, battling with the bug team saying give us a chance to stabilize the platform. But at the end of the day, how does a capability like merge notes on IOS, get pushed to the bottom of the pile month after month, for multiple years? Are you telling me the night feature was in bigger demand, or was it just an easier one to deliver? While I appreciate you responding, your response is no different from the one we got many years ago. Please help us understand how this one capability is less of a priority than tables, or others the users are asking for? Thanks, Jeff

This is really sad. We are the users that stuck it out with Evernote when most folks never heard of them. Being a leader in the IT industry, I have converted 100’s of users to Evernote. I have been one of their biggest evangelists. All we are asking for is something we should have had years ago. Like many I am heavily invested in Evernote, but I was also 100% invested in MAC, until recently. Hello, Alexa and compatible smart home gadgets. I guess the powers that be at Evernote are answering us by not answering, but we are too loyal and stubborn to hear their silence. I for one am beginning my search for an alternative to Evernote. Never could get my wife to use it anyway. Maybe there is a better app than Evernote for organization, projects, lists and going paperless! Let the search begin. All suggestions are welcomed. Spot on Avi. I tend to send multiple screen shots on the same topic to evernote. Since I use Evernote for everything, the screenshots are never one after another, so I then I have to hunt for them on my iMac to merge them. I do not understand why we can’t drag one note into another note to merge. I am in the technology industry, I confess I am no programmer, but I don’t understand why after multiple years this has not been addressed.

I have been an evernote Premium customer for a long time. Merge is a feature that should have been added years ago. Why hasn’t this simple request been addressed. I don’t think this forum thread is accurately depicting how much of an issue this is for folks that have adapted Evernote for their daily lives on an IOS device. I can go months without touching my Macbook or iMac I wonder if this request is not being treated with priority because it started December 2011. Maybe we need to start a new request. Everyone, please send to other Evernote users you may know, and ask them to vote on this forum and just type a very short message “Need Merge Feature on iPad”. Maybe we need more noise to wake up the powers that be. I too am guilty of not taking action. I search this topic every month just to find nothing is being done. Unfortunately this is my first official entry. Shame on me
