Some of you guys are crazy. I just started Evernote, but these numbers are crazy. How long have you all been going for?

Following shows my journey. I did not really use it much in 2013 and 2014 as shown, in 2015 I put the effort into it and I must say after 2016 I saw a huge habit change and now I "get" it. It is customized to my liking and needs and works really nicely. Once you realize how easily you can retrieve things (for me especially with tags) then you start capturing even more. Right now averaging 12-13 notes a day and I have 12,200+ notes.

Like @Duane said, it is not competition and to be honest, the number of notes does not really matter if you cannot set it up that you cannot retrieve it when you need it. Otherwise, anybody can dump anything into it and reach the 100,000 note mark but like anything else if the information is not retrievable, you don't technically have it.

PS! This chart was already in Evernote, was not updated in 2018 but was easy to retrieve.

  2. I bought the Rocketbook way back which allows you to put it in a microwave and erase all the notes. I never got to complete the notebook to do that. You may look into that as well if you are still looking for a reuseable notebook.

You can scan everything into Evernote with the Rocketbook app as well, so the idea was really tempting.

To answer your question, I had not used wipebook.

  3. Overall I think people want more customization to their Evernote and want to make it look the way that works for them. Different size fonts, different layouts for ShortCuts, or note views, more color options etc. I am all for it as well. I use it all day long and it is the app that I spent the most hours according to RescueTime everyday.

Thus, I want it to feel, look the way I like it.

Of course, with a lot of customization options, comes a lot of problems for the developers and for the users. I would trust the Evernote team to walk that fine line nicely.

You can try right clicking on the note in the list and then click on Save Attachments.  Sometimes the missing attachment will be saved and you can paste back into the note.  I've done this with gone missing PDFs in the past...

Thanks! This worked on a note that I lost a spreadsheet file this morning. I came in Monday morning and I had the same missing icon where my Excel file used to be and I checked the online version. Online version showed "Unknown" file. i tried the "Save attachment" option and it worked! Never tried that before. Good option to have, although I would have preferred not losing the file I saved up but at least there is a way to recover.

  5. I lost a photo in one of my notes again today!

That photo has been there for a while and I just checked it now, it is gone. Normally I would lose the whole photo, at least now there is an icon there showing me there used to be a photo!

I think I can be understanding with many bugs but when it comes to losing content within notes, that is completely against the whole principal of Evernote...remember everything! Well if some of the everything is being lost without user deleting, that is going to be remember some of the stuff that did not get lost due to a bug!

    Happy Friday everyone!

Hi all, I’m very new to evernote forum here :)

Been using evernote for a while now, and I wanted to integrate Evernote with To-do app.

Anyway I can create Evernote checklists and sync them to Other to-do app (any app recommendations is welcome).

    Thank you

There is also TaskClone that I messed with before. It takes your items that have a checkbox before it and sends it to your task manager app or can create a note in Evernote with all checklist items listed inside the note.

Problem I had with these kinds of integrations among different apps is that since it is unidirectional, you have two maintain to systems in a sense. For example, you check the box off in the task app, you will have to find the checklist item in your Evernote and check that off as well.

    Hope this helps.

  7. For emailed receipts, you can forward them to your Evernote Email address as well. I use an app called Dispatch on iPhone that has a save to Evernote option, it is a good email processing tool to use in my opinion.

So any receipt email I dispatch it to Evernote, tag it as "Receipts" and if it is tax related, tag it "Tax" as well.

Having same problems this week. Note contents dissapears or even is replaced by content of another note! Just now checked again and found more notes with such problem - missing completely empty content. Some of them has content still available on EN website, however on PC content is missing. For example, I select a note having this issue, do "Copy internal link" and paste into the browser and then I see the contents. Note creation and update times are exactly the same back from beginning of 2017 and its simply a webpage clip from Evernote Chrome extension. So I am 100% sure never touched it or edited. I already opened a ticket in support. Will see how the problem will be solved.

Activating the Premium account with note history feature is not an option, because its definetely a bug. If the note content is missing, it will not appear in the results when I do search in all notebooks and find notes in my archive having some particular word mentioned. It simply will not show up anymore as content is missing and I will not notice it.

I've had so many problems since the latest update with my notes. Things are disappearing within notes, PDFs being removed, images I insert disappear when I revisit the same notes within an hour. Tables started to act up now!

I've been a dedicated Evernote user for a while with a lot of notes I use everyday so it is something I cannot risk since I rely on it tremendously. Even the angst of my notes might be missing things that I cannot realize is very frustrating.

Hopefully, the fix is around the corner to all of our problems but this has been very disappointing to many of us so far.

  9. I was leaving my job so I uninstalled the Evernote app on my PC at work therefore I was using the web application for couple of days.

I must say if I was solely using the Web application, I wouldn't have this many notes and probably would have looked for a different software. Not that the online version is bad, it just does not work with my fast processing and accessing.

For example, I have PDF documents within my notes almost all the time. So on the desktop app, I can scroll and find my PDF and read it within the note, on the web app, PDF is a link so I have to open it in a new tab. Further, if I want to edit that PDF, on the windows app, I double click the file, it opens in my PDF editor (Bluebeam in my work case), I mark it up, highlight it, circle it etc. and save it. Now the file within the Evernote note itself is modified with my markups. On the web app, I have to download that PDF and open it after the download, mark it up and I assume replace it in the note. (Never done this but you have to download that file to open it besides the web browser viewer).

Keyboard shortcuts (although I did find a Chrome webapp) is another huge time saver on the desktop app especially when you get used to the stuff you use daily. From tagging to moving a note to a notebook etc.

For me, the desktop app is definitely a must for a heavy user to eliminate frustrations and expedite workflows. Not that you cannot use the web app and be productive but my preference is definitely the desktop apps.

  10. I would like the recurring reminders too. I have a tracking note for my allergy shots and every week, I reset the reminder after I get my shot and I update my log. It would be nice to just have "every monday" as a reminder and not have to change the reminder every time.

It obviously sounds like a "petty" problem but when you see other apps do it all the time, you start to expect it from Evernote as well. I use Todoist, it has this option which is really nice to have.

Another way to do this is to use a text expander.  I use PhraseExpress on Windows, they have a beta on Mac.  There are other like tools for the Mac.  You can create your own hotkey to execute the command.  For example:

    • This expression created in PhraseExpress -  {#F6}created:{#datetime -f yyyymmdd -s -1Y} -created:{#datetime -f yyyymmdd -s -1Y 1D}
    • puts created::20160121 -created:20160122 in the EN search bar.

So if I hit Shift-Alt-L in EN I get the search.  All of this is done with drop downs in PhraseExpress.  FWIW.

Another software option to look into for Windows is Breevy. I use it for many search strings in Evernote, for example remtdy will give me reminderTime:day -reminderTime:day+1 -reminderDoneTime:*

  12. I agree, location reminders is a great feature for many apps. Obviously Apple reminders have it so does Todoist.

I am in construction, it would be nice to set up location reminders in Evernote for the notes related to a job site and get notified while I am there. I can search by the tag of that project number however I don't want to see all the notes about it either. I can set reminders and search for that project with reminders but it would be more convenient to have your phone pop up a message if I drive by a job site or in the vicinity.

While I am at it, I would like keyboard shortcuts in Windows App for setting, clearing, changing reminders. I do everything with the keyboard when I am processing my old reminders except clicking and changing the date.

  13. I would love a better way to connect notes. I like @Alteraf 's idea. I definitely would like to find and link a note while I am working in the note.

My ideal feature request would be a visual interface you can "spread" your notes like paper onto a canvas and see a bigger picture among your notes and drag/link as  you would like. It can help you generate new ideas or make connections that you did not have before.

MohioMap comes close to this for sure. It gives a nice, flowing visual of all your notes and your cloud storage.

I am going to give Crusoe a try as suggested before here which seems like a good app.
