Question for you guys:

If you go to free from professional, since there is a notebook and note limit in the free, what happens?

Since I am tag guy, I had very few notebooks so when I tried to IMPORT FROM EVERNOTE, it was taking too long. Yet, I did do a notebook and imported into Notion just to try it. 

The gallery view of that looked pretty good and I liked how you can filter with multiple filters very quickly.

But in the end, since the tags are not universal in Notion and they are specific to the database in which it is created, I am not seeing a huge value yet. I am a newbie with Notion so this may change (or may not be even correct) of course.

What has been your experience ?

It also does not have graph view but that is something that EN also does not have.

I have been a HUGE tag guy. All my notes had more than 5 tags on average and I am a firm believer in tags vs. notebooks. I believe tags is the new way of thinking vs. the folder structure we all have been used.

With Notion, I realized I could use @ symbol and then use it within the note so now I could cross reference everything. Basically, I had to change the way I thought about notes, and when I figured out that these "pages" (notes) were actually kind of websites where I can do links, it opened my eye to many possibilities. 

In essence, now my old tags are "pages" in databases or pages in Notion. So if I used to have a "Bank of America" or a "Statement" tag, now those live as individual pages or items in databases and I can still access all of those without having to remember where things are.

This was the biggest challenge I had to overcome.

After 36,314 notes and 10+ years of Evernote usage as well as being an Evernote fanboy....I am making the switch to Notion.

Everything users have been asking for from Evernote in the forums are already in Notion. And it is so fast to make a reference/connection to a page in Notion by using @ and you can cross reference everything so quickly.

The databases, gallery views, board views, markdown, being able to change the color of a text or the style on the fly etc....many many nice features that just work.

I still pay for my subscription but now I am definitely using Notion as the hub of my system. What is sad to me that it feels like all the features we have been asking for, for years, already exists in other apps and makes me question what they are doing at Evernote to stay ahead of the competition.

We are still debating about the new looks, colors etc. while the functionality suffers. This issue had come up when the new logo and new branding were announced couple of years ago. All the users were like..hey we need features, who cares the ear of the 🐘 is now different, work on the fundamentals. I feel a similar issue with the new UI too.

In the end, this is not one of the posts where people feel like someone should say "oh no he is leaving, please stay" lt is just where I stand after so many years of sticking with Evernote and having all my life in there, I will be a paid member for a while but I finally mentally let Evernote go as the hub of my system, and Notion is a really powerful alternate that I realized.

I had the new UI yesterday but today it looks like it went back to the previous UI ?!?!?! Am I seeing things?

I noticed this with that update too, but especially on the Remote Desktop we use. It was ok on the Remote Desktop before too but after the update it became so slow and is still pretty bad. Not sure why since the app on local is still working fine.

I also have a co-worker that uses the online version, he mentioned the same to me that it is not usable for him right now after the updates.

I did a brand new install too which did not improve unfortunately.

Their latest blog posts mentioned something about working on making it faster and reliable etc. hopefully I will see those effects soon.

I kept doing the "check for updates" but I guess it did not get pushed to me therefore it kept saying it was up to date. Now did the force update, let's see if this will work.

I also started to get these a lot with the images in the notes, keeps rotating and rotating.

Lately I have been having an issue with dropping a file into a note and the note stays empty.

I pasted this screenshot into the note at 8:24AM and the thumbnail shows what it is and the note is completely blank.

This is happening with the PDF files as well. I drop a PDF onto the notebook, it creates the new note but the PDF is not even shown in the note.

It is getting really annoying. This is happening on my local computer and the Remote Desktop so two different instances of Evernote, both running 10.50.10.

Not sure if this is related but did not want to create a new post about it...at least not yet.

I just scanned a Business Card with the Evernote app directly. Same issue exits when you EDIT the card in the windows app for Evernote. Num pad works in every other field but the phone number field which is ironic.  

So, yes, the num lock is not on so I can type in numbers anywhere else. But when you are editing a Business Card you scanned with the Scannable app, in the PHONE NUMBER Field, you can only type in numbers using the keyboard numbers not the numeric keypad area. 

Did anybody experience the same issue? Can anyone replicate the issue?

Update → It also happens if you do CTRL + ALT + 2 to go to all notes.

When I use Evernote in a non-maximized mode (i.e. snapped to the half of the screen) on a 4K monitor or an Ultra-Wide monitor, if I use the keyboard shortcut to do a search CTRL + ALT + F, the snapped window will pop out and become a smaller window in the middle of the screen.

This does not happen if it is maximized covering the entire monitor.

Not a huge issue but every time I do a search, I have to re-snap it to the side of the monitor since using it maximized on a 4K is really not very productive, losing a lot of window real estate for other apps.

Have you experienced this?

This morning I got the notification about the latest version and selected download & install however, the bar almost reaches the end but gets stuck.

I shut the app down from the task manager and tried again, same issue. Did anyone experience this issue so far?

With the latest version I have (10.32.4), when moving a note, I can no longer press down arrow to move among different notebooks to choose the correct one.

CTRL + ALT + M pops the move screen up, then you hit DOWN ARROW, and select the 1st on the list, then you press DOWN ARROW again, nothing happens. So unless you type the whole notebook name, you cannot select the notebook without using your mouse. This used to be not this way and it was working.

Anybody else noticed this?

Another item I would like to mention searching by tags. Now you can type the name of the tag, get the suggestion, select the suggesting with the keyboard, and what you typed goes away which makes sense and it is good. So now you tagged your search. But if you do the same while this tag is selected, now it will not delete what you type.

In other words, now you have to delete the spelled out tag. It would be nice to continue deleting the typed out tag once a tag is selected no matter how many tags already been selected.

One practice I started doing is to pull up notes I created a year before, 2 years before...3,4...etc. on the same day.

created:day-1095 -created:day-1094

I have a shortcut for these searches so it is easy to access. It also helps me modify some of the older notes with the new tags I added. It also is a nice view of what was happening a year ago etc.

This still is happening for me.

When that happens, does it say "We found a duplicate note" or something like that? 

Sometimes while I am editing something happens, not sure if the changes are not saved fast enough or there is a connection issue, but Evernote will create a duplicate of the note I am working. That's why I was asking if it was the same issue you are experiencing.

I was going to post this, but did a search first and found your post.

I would love to have the INSERT menu pop up with a keyboard shortcut then I can select with the up/down arrows. That would work for me. Same with the coloring of the fonts. I used to use CTRL+D in the older version a lot and it saved a lot of time.

Would be nice to have more editing keyboard shortcuts for font color, inserting etc.

I use Google Cal for personal and we use Office 365 for work so it would be more usable for me if other options become available.

I have been having problems with the -tag:"xxx" as well.

Today I just had a problem with a tap + updated today. If I search for updated today I find the note and it is tagged as PETS. But if I do, tag search with pets then add the updated today it does not find anything.

↑ This is the PETS tag first then adding the updated:day tag to it.

But I do updated today only, I locate 17 notes and one of them has the PETS tag. ↓

Possibly, good point, but would be nice to have the same link or whatever so I can see those pictures. But in that case, that email had attachments as photos so when I clipped it I wanted it to clip with the photos otherwise the email was really useless.

This is my setting, I never use the Title, either created or updated dates.

And it is always "U" for some reason but it is my first name initial which may be a coincidence.

I have the "Show notes in groups" selected which shows the month created or updated depending on your sort criteria.

However, when I do a search with a tag, when the tag is selected, it shows only the letter "U". If it is a text search without the tag, it works. Seems to happen only when a tag is selected.

Has anybody encountered this?
