Did you use Revo Uninstaller to remove both installs ? If not, install both again (to create the install that can be removed), then uninstall using Revo.

Yes I did. Will try again next week. See whether it works

When trying to close one of the five Evernote processes running on the desktop (the app itself is closed):

    image.png.03cd581e77cd65f31e842782dfe66d8e.png

I am getting this problem also but only on one of my devices. It was the one where I kept legacy and I wonder if that was the issue. I completely uninstalled and re-installed evernote but the problem keeps occuring. All my other devices though are fine

  3. Since the android upgrade to 10.83.0 the search by filters in my mobile has stopped working correctly. This happened today. Is any one having the same issues?  I should add that the tag count shows the right number of notes but when i select it only two appear. No such problem on the windows laptop

Edit: when I clear the cache the right notes briefly appear before disappearing again. Odd

Second edit: I ended up re-installing fingers-crossed. seems to work

  4. I get too many hits. I tried intitle:<keyword> and I get exactly the same result as intitle:keyword. Namely hits that include any word that starts with the keyword. However, intitle:"keyword" works. Thanks @Jon/t

Hi again - I tried a couple of searches with intitle:<keyword> which as you'd expect only came up with notes with that word in the title.  Are you saying that you get too many hits,  or too few? - and @Jon/t has a point for phrases!

  5. I am sorry if this has been answered in some post above. Trying to adjust away from the unsurpassed Legacy

    10.79.3-win-ddl-public (20240307101007)
    Editor: v177.6.1
    Service: v1.95.0

How do I search for ALL and ONLY notes with an exact word in the title? In legacy it was  intitle:word  If I wanted all notes with a word stem in the title it was intitle:word* (which would return word, words, wordle, etc)

intitle:word in the current version returns what intitle:word* used to but what do I do to get what the old intitle:word showed?

AI is useless since it only returns what it thinks is most relevant and what it thinks is mostly unhelpful

    Thank you for your help

    @silkenpaw and @Candide

I have a solution that works on windows that presumably will translate to Mac.

    • In the old note select all the tags by ctrl-clicking the tags at the bottom of the note.
    • Press ctrl-C to copy them to the clipboard
    • Open the new note and click into the tag area at the bottom of the note
    • ctrl-V to paste in the tags

If you paste into a text editor you will see that it is a comma separated list which ties in with my obsevation in the previous post.

They got rid of this functionality now

Great. Could you take a screenshot of the legacy feature? It would help visualize how it could work better on v10.

Beyond that, do you use Twitter? Federico is active on Twitter and he's responded to many suggestions for feature improvements there. I saw someone say that BS thinks only a small percentage use tags so the more people that they see are requesting tag improvements, the better.

    Here it is

I have the same question and the same pain point that I wrote about above, about a dozens posts earlier. Just a quick correction to the bolded/italicized section above - as of the very latest Evernote V10 update (with the UI refresh), I can find no way to copy and paste tags anymore. :( (I know you said that doesn't work for you but it did work for me and I'm frustrated to see it gone.)

I do like your suggestion, however. If they could improve the "edit tag" experience (Ctrl-Cmd-Opt-T on Mac) so that all tags which appear on at least one note are sorted to the top of the view, that would be a big improvement. Is that how it works on Legacy?

Yes it is. There is the option to see only the tags used in some notes rather than only those used in every selected notes. If they changed that I would be delighted

  9. I am one of the people who is still using Legacy and I would welcome advice about how to tag multiple notes in v10. I know that you can click on the desired notes and then tag them all at once. I also know that you can copy all the tags from one note to another but neither is an efficient way of doing what I did in Legacy. In legacy I could select a bunch of notes some of which with no tags and some with partially overlapping tags, click on CTRL+ALT+T and all and only the tags used in some or all of the selected notes would appear I could then click on each tag for it to be added to all notes or removed from all. I have many many tags and so scrolling down the whole list to find which is used in at least one note is not an option because it is too time consuming. I do this tagging processs more than twenty times every day, I know I cannot follow the same steps with v10, but is there another way of achieving the final result and that would not take an age in v10?

I really would welcome help since if there is no way to do what I need between now and when legacy stops I would have to start soon exporting eveything and finding another app inferior to Legacy but where what I need to do is possible or if none exist completely change the way I work. Unfortunately working offline is essential to me which further complicates matters.

Any positive suggestions are welcome. Thank you

My experience was that if I once updated a device to EN10 you afterwards will not be able to reinstall EN8.13.3 on Android >=10 without the extra mile to support to grant access (reporting your IP and so on). So maybe don't try it out on your Android 13 device if you want to avoid the risk of being forced to use EN10.

The Play Store says EN10 would eventually be availabe to devices running Android 6-9, too. But this text is there since introduction of EN10 years ago and nothing happened. Now I would guess they cut the cord for EN 8.13.3 if user base running older devices gets small enough in the future so they don't care of losing them. Pretty funny that EN8.13.3 suggests to update even on Android 9...where there is no actual update available.

This is not true you can reinstall the 8.13.3 version even if you inadvertedly installed the dreadful v10

I don't know enough about the reasons behind using legacy (except habit) to rip it off right now. Hopefully I'll be more confident of the decision in a few months as I learn more.
But in any case we will still need to understand how many users are on legacy because they don't know about the alternative and how many are there because they need/want it. That's why we are ramping up communication and creating a path of least resistance that brings people to the newest version.

I am using Legacy because I want to. I can explain but it concerns multiple notes and tags

Why should I ignore a relevant question ?

Just tried (before answering) the search on my Mac, in offline mode. It is as fast as online, just the filters are not available.

If it takes much longer for you (always assuming EN is installed on a SSD), we come back to the corruption problem that may possibly be there.

You can replace the database on a PC using this steps. After it leave the EN client open in the background - it will need quite a while to download all, including attachments.

    1. Go to File > Sign Out [name] from the menu bar.
    2. Select the "Remove my Evernote data from this device" option, then click Sign out.
    3. Restart your computer.
    4. Sign back in to Evernote. Keep the app open while it downloads your notes from the server.

Thank you so much! I will do that

Filters are not available when offline - this is clearly signaled by greying out the symbol, and a message if you click on them.

But search means not only filters. Search for words is working, and you can use the advanced search language to add filters to your search for keywords. Not clickable like the filtering tools, but working in offline mode either.

Thank you. I thought it was not working because nothing appeared for over a minute. You are right it does work it is only terminally slow -not the thing to use if you urgently need offline access to a note. Legacy performs way better in this regard

In theory you can open and login to Evernote. Then go off line and all should work.

But I'm not at all confident that things will work well if you are off line for extended periods.

A great deal happens in the cloud and I fear that you will experience many challenges and these will increase the longer you have been offline.

For sure you should limit yourself to one device. That should probably be a desktop/laptop rather than a mobile device.

You could try using the Legacy product. That will do what it can. Provided Legacy is still working when you are back online you will be able to catch up.

If you have the capacity to do so, I'd run an experiment. Create a Free account. Load up v10 on a test computer, import a notebook from your regular account, and take it offline once the account has synced. Then try it for a week keeping the account off line.

Let us know how you get on.

Thank you. Yes I can do what I want with Legacy but I fear it will soon disappear

    Sure, it simply works.

Offline is standard on desktop clients, it’s a subscribers feature on mobile. On desktop you download all, or opt out of it. On mobile you choose the notes or notebooks to download.

If you can’t search (you don’t tell about your clients), you have a corrupted download. It depends on the client how to replace the bad local database by a fresh one.

I sometimes do quite some cleanup work while on the train, offline. It is equivalent to some days of regular use. It syncs when I go back online, and that’s it. I think with a server link from time to time you should do ok.

If possible avoid to use several clients for note editing while not syncing. Creating new notes is no issue (they will not be a available on any other client before synced), but editing the same note on different, unsynced clients will likely create conflicts and duplication.

Contact to support should work if you issued a ticket, using one of the official channels.

Thank you so much. Just to clarify on a windows laptop I should be able to search using filters when offline. Presently I can't, so there must be a problem with my database. Do I understan you right?
