  1. In the next year or so I shall be off grid for weeks at the time and would like to use Evernote enterely offline for prolonged periods. I can do that with Legacy (but I know that its days are numbered) I know I can access notes offline on v10 but I can't figure out how to search for them. Of course access but no ability to search makes the whole thing useless. I have asked Evernote but they have not bothered to reply. Is there a way of searching notes when offline on v10? Thanks for any advice including about alternative to EN that are fully functional offline.

Vast majority of legacy users don't know they are using legacy. More than two thirds of them never even installed v10. I saw this personally in many conversations: they think they are using "Evernote". But legacy is breaking more and more with each OS update.

Plus it makes backend teams worry about backwards compatibility. We need to speed up development and legacy is one thing preventing us from doing so.

@HeBoIz What's the key reason you use legacy vs v10?
I daily run v10 and occasionally try using legacy, but I can't stand it, it's too buggy.

I would like to continue using legacy. It is perfect for me. I don't need tasks or calendar synchronisation, I do not collaborate. Evernote is my knowledge base. It is a vast archive where I store things that I retrieve through seraching tags (and other features). That is what I want - I know that soon you will discontinue legacy but could I have some pre-warning so that I can find alterantives? V10 has all these features I do not want (and do not want to pay for) and is worse than legacy for my purposes.

I just wish you could keep it for those for whom legacy is what they want.

For me the current tagging options in v10 work as a full substitute to the legacy tagging. Operationally I have no delays.

What was nice was the Tags overview page in legacy, that showed my tags and the number of notes for each one. It helped with tag housekeeping. The current tags page requires more scrolling.

For me it does not. It makes the whole process much longer and less efficient. It would have been nice if they left both options open.

  4. Luckily I had a note with a link for the download that still works and so I just have legacy back. When it stops synching that day I stop using Evernote. There is much to be said for the new version but there are a couple of things that for me are essential and better in legacy. I have asked for these things

  5. I accidentally downloaded the new version today which uninstalled legacy. There should have been a warning. I had been running the two in parallel for months. When the computer that still has legacy dies I will stop paying for evernote. I have tried for over a year to use the new version and I STILL HATE IT. I don't see why they could not have left legacy alone

Quite possibly. If it is a function you want to suggest then you could submit feedback or support ticket.

Thank you I see elsewhere that other people miss this feature. My experience with feedback has not been so positive and given evidence elsewhere that other people asked for this to no avail I will stick with legacy. But if anyone knows of a workround I would welcome knowing about it

    Hi Mike,

That is so helpful - thanks.  Following on what you wrote, I also discovered shift-click at the beginning and end of a group of tags, then ctrl-C works too.
So while the old way of just selecting with the mouse/trackpad is gone, that's a perfectly acceptable workaround for me.

Now if only they'd get rid of the clunky Calendar window so I can get back to using my keyboard to change a Created Date, I would be pretty happy with the new Evernote.

    Cheers🌺

Could someone explains how that work on windows? For me it just creates a new tag which is the list of all the tags separated by commas

How to copy tags from one note to another in Evernote (PC)

The option for duplicating a note and also copying along the tags is hidden inside the "Notebooks..." menu item. Since I didn't know about it at the time, I had to look for another way to copy the tags from one note to another. I found an easy method...
How to copy a note's tag to another note in Evernote (PC):
    1. Select both notes in the note list.
    2. Right-click and choose Tag Notes...
    3. Check Hide unassigned tags
    4. Press Select All
    5. Press OK
That's it! Now both notes will contain the same exact tags (i.e. a union between both sets of tags).

This is only true for the legacy app, isn't it? It is the one thing that keeps me using the legacy app rather than the new version. I do this every day tens of times. Am I alone?

Just thought I might add to my much earlier response.

We put into the subject line @orders email which is one of my notebooks

Then we use a rule in outlook, that automatically forwards any email sent with this in the subject line.

We then get all the information from the email into the note.  We then, copy or merge or move the note where it needs to be.

You could do this with any notebook in your account and set separate rules for different notebooks if necessary.

    Hope this helps someone.

    Have a GREAT day!

    Rick

Thank you so much but unfortunately it won't help me. I cannot put extraneous stuff like that in the subject line when I email third parties. I have no problem emailing my mail to evernote, the problem only occurs when I try to bcc my evernote account and no amount of setting rules seems to work if I am to preserve the following info

    TO

    CC

    FROM

    DATE

It's a valid point,  but you pay for the existing service that Evernote provides - bugs, 'features' and all:  you didn't sign up on the understanding they'd implement your every suggestion ahead of the 1,000's of others out there.

When you say 'headers',  I assume you're meaning the From: and To: portion of the email that we all see,  not the technical routing information that's also referred to as a header...  (from http://whatismyipaddress.com/email-header)

I'd say the 'from/ to' formatting is an essential part of the email - hopefully Evernote will get around to improving email clipping with that in mind soon...

Thank you. I do not for a moment suggest they should prioritise my needs over those of others. But this thread was started in 2014 by someone else asking for the same thing, it includes further contributions by other users also asking for the same thing. So clearly I am not alone.

    Yes by headers I mean

    To

    CC

    From

    Date

I went down that path a couple of years back and in the end a bcc does not include the email header info, whereas a forward does.  A bcc to another account and then a rule to forward to EN still loses the original header info.  If memory is accurate, I think that's what happened and I gave up and went back to just having the second step of forwarding vs a bcc.  Now if there's a way to do this and I missed it, I would like to know.

I can confirm that that still does not work. There are several of us who would like this function. Any way we can petition for its implementation? I pay good money every year for evernote.

Hi.  What email system are you using?  Can you set up a 'rule' in your own mailbox that any emails BCC'd to you are then forwarded to Evernote?

Yes I have set up a forwarding rule. The problem is that the forwarded email becomes a note with the email subject line as its title. Howeve I lose the email headers (the date and time of the mail, who sent it and to whom). It is these headers I am interested in I already have the rule set up for the autoforwarding

  13. Thank you for your response but unfortunately it does not help me. I like to BCC my evernote account when I write emails to third parties. Simply forwarding the sent email after it appears in the sent folder does the trick but it involves an extra step which I wanted to avoid.

Hence, please, does any one have an answer to my question.
