  1. This kinda bull$#!t from BS is just so utterly exhausting.
  2. Anyone else having issues with the Android app? It's basically unusable now.
  3. Opened app (10.82.0) on my phone this morning (which must have auto updated itself) & it now has a new look which won't let me access shortcuts & NONE of my attachments are available!!!!!!
  4. Clicking on a link to another note displays this message. Let's play the guessing game: Could it be trying to tell me that note was in the trash & was deleted?
  5. We all saw this train-wreck coming, except BS, who for some reason chose to ignore the feedback. There are just so, so many problems now that it's laughable that it's called a 'productivity app'. The FORCED migration to this totally inept version from Legacy has cost me dozens, if not hundreds of lost hours & stress only to find out that nothing really works properly in V10....still, after all these years of them using us as beta testers!!!! I'm not a lawyer, but if someone were to start a lawsuit against them for prohibiting access to my Legacy data in a way I had been accustomed to & had paid for, I'd be joining it. Due to app problems I was unable to successfully export an complete ENEX backup of all my data from Legacy before they shut that down. I still can't now from V10 either & they're not even trying to help me via support, so that means I don't know what state my valuable data is in. I just noticed that one of my notes has an 'Untitled Attachment' which I can't access, so that means at least some data is missing, lost or corrupt. So, if BS in not already overwhelmed with the tsunami of anger & disappointment from their existing users, I suggest we LET THEM KNOW LOUD AND CLEARLY by creating lots & lots of noise everywhere we can. Support tickets, forum threads, social media, regular media, etc... Tell everyone you know what you think about Evernote now, just like we all did all those years ago while we helped it grow!
  6. In preparation for the death of an old friend named LEGACY last night I was to exporting all 6 of my folders that contain all 6857 of my notes. I was successful with 5 of those folders, but the largest one with 6457 notes always froze at note 5044. I tried several things but could not get it to work & ended up creating a support ticket only to get an auto-reply suggesting I restart my computer. Needless to say I don't understand how they can kill Legacy when they can't even get a backup of my data to work. Now I'm on V10 (sigh...) and thought I'd try to export that folder as an ENEX. It's been over 10 minutes so far and it's only at 8% (whereas Legacy was at 5044 notes out of 6457 in 4 minutes). Wait, since I started writing this it too has now failed with an error. On another issue, I sent a photo from my Android phone to V10 & after 20 minutes it still wasn't in my desktop app, so I opened the phone app to check & then it appeared on desktop. Brilliant. Such progress has truly been made with V10.
  7. @CalSAhh, so if I use indexing, Windows can search the contents of files also, whereas 'Everything' only finds filenames? Good to know, thanks!
  8. Absolutely! If nothing else, this 'shake-down' of current users by BS is opening a lot of people's eyes to what alternatives are out there today.
  9. Hey @CalS, I'm not familiar with Windows indexing either, but I assume it's to help the PC find some text or file when using Window's generic search function. I have no affiliation with the app I use called Everything (search tool) that finds anything on my PC faster than I can type. It's the most amazing search tool I've ever used, is free, has no harassments or advertising & is easy to use. I agree @fuchsfr, I will also be making an ENEX backup of all folders on the 22nd, just in case I find an Evernote alternative. I'm certainly not staying with EN because of their concern for my Legacy needs or customer service, or pricing!
  10. I've had a chance to test exporting to different formats & agree that @CalS advice on using HTML is an excellent option that works perfectly for me to be able to have a fully-intact, accessible, independent copy of every note & every attachment I have in EN Legacy. For me, 'Export Individual Notebooks as Multiple Web Pages' works best. I can then use a VERY AWESOME, free little app called Everything (search tool) to quickly find what I need. Here's a few key points I found in the HTML files: they contain accurate dates, tags & formatting can copy text from them images can be dragged to desktop PDFs cannot be dragged, but can be opened by dbl-clicking (or files can be found in the note's associated folder) external links still work internal (EN) links work to notes in the same notebook (HTML parent folder) do not work to links in other notebooks (not in the HTML parent folder) but open V10 (but not to the linked note) links to local computer file locations (paths) do not work image markups remain intact, but are not editable Thanks again @CalS, having this solution has relieved about 4 billion pounds of stress off my back right now!
  11. Thanks. I think I did look it up at the time, but it wasn't helpful & I couldn't find anything. I'm currently running both versions on my PC & only have 6 notebooks, so I checked them all in Legacy by looking at their properties (which all show 'synchronized'). I only saw that message when I installed V10 though & was just concerned that I should follow up on it to make sure it's not missing anything. Probably the only way to do that would be to reinstall it, which I'm hesitant to do because it would uninstall & make me reinstall Legacy & all its settings.
  12. I received this message after recently re-installing V10. I've checked all my NBs in Legacy & none are Local, how do I check this in V10?
  13. Thank you both for your replies, much better than support's answer of "Logging in won't be possible, so you won't be able to keep using the legacy client, even for reference purposes." @CalS I'm not familiar with firewall details, do you know how to block EN (Legacy) with a firewall rule? It sounds like your HTML example is my best alternative though, I'll definitely look into how that works. Thanks for the example!
  14. Thank you @Jon/t for your explanations of a process that I wasn't aware of, it makes a lot more sense to me now. Unfortunately, I still don't understand why I'm no longer able to choose which versions I want to install/not install like was possible in Legacy (and for pretty much every other app on PCs today).
  15. Per EN's death-blow announcement "On that date, all versions of Evernote released prior to v10 on macOS, Windows, and Android will stop working." What exactly does stop working mean? Can I keep Legacy installed & use it for reference only after that date? If so, does anyone know how? I realize that some suggestions may have been proposed in various threads, but I wanted a single thread for users to be able to find this info. Yes, I've already submitted this question to support.
  16. BTW @ferol, thank you for posting your findings about alternative apps to try. UpNote really looks good!
  17. I stand corrected in my wording: V10 just notifies users that an update has been downloaded & will be installed next time the app is 'relaunched'. It then proceeds to force us to 'Accept' their Clean Up Utility. And even if you click 'No' it still uninstalls Legacy & forces users to reinstall & reconfigure it.
  18. I 100% agree with the OP! EN V10 needs the ability to disable automatic updates. Among other posts, you can read many more complaints & inadequacies about it here.
  19. Because I've got so much time invested into my curated notes in EN I'm trying to give V10 another chance, but I continue to be appalled by the way BS is handling it. 1) Automatic V10 updates without ability to disable (as posted earlier). Doesn't anyone remember how much time & pain they caused us with that mentality a few years ago when they started using paying customers as beta-testers for a completely unusable V10? That's when they lost my trust. Again, most of us use the app as a tool that works to help make our lives better, not as free software testers to provide feedback on features that don't. I need the ability to turn off updates until I am ready to install them. 2) Their statement about 1% of users still using Legacy that I said was bull$#it. Just to put that absurdly low number into context, consider how many people voluntarily upgrade to the latest Windows vers every time MS upends our lives with that lovely business model. I read recently that Win11 has only been adopted by ~30% of Win10 users. We can apply that obvious reluctance to change (for many reasons) back to any previous Win vers. 3) I would like to know if those select few of you who continue to defend & promote EN V10 here have a vested interest in this company/app? And if not, perhaps you can agree that some of us have spent millions of hours developing & using Legacy into our lives in ways that you may not have.
  20. So again more drama with EN for Windows today. V10 & Legacy both installed & running. Legacy stops syncing again, check V10 & it's automatically downloaded an update (with no options other than to 'relaunch to install'). Restarting V10 then proceeds to uninstall Legacy even though I answered NO to using the 'Evernote Cleanup Utility'. V10 now running latest vers, can't find way to disable auto-updates. Reinstall Legacy & all my option settings have been reset to defaults.
  21. Is there an official process somewhere on how to keep Legacy available (for reference only) after Mar 23rd while trying to adapt to V10?
  22. That's not true because V10 was being used as a beta test on existing users who adopted it & had (and still has) some glaring issues.
  23. I didn't log out of Legacy, it automatically logged me out & then asked for me to log back in. On two PCs. I hope to keep using Legacy offline as a reference though, so I'll have to look into those firewall configs.
  24. Thanks Dave, I wasn't aware of that. I've had the same password for many years, ironic that it should happen during all this other turmoil.
  25. FYI for anyone else struggling with Legacy log in problems. Despite being a long-term paying user legitimately running Legacy until Mar. 23rd, I have received zero usable help from support for multiple requests. I thought I'd try logging into v10 & see what it said & was surprised to see that it forced me to change my password. Once I did that however, I was able to log into both versions on both my PCs.
