Frank.dg 1,385 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Can anyone shed some light on what this means practically?: Evernote for Windows 5.4.0.3593 RC Release Notes:Note locking helps prevent users from creating conflicting changesI'm very well acquainted with "conflicting changes", but not exactly sure what note locking is. I mean, is it something we have the option to turn on or off or is it something that simply happens in the background without any input from the user? How does this dynamic work? Cheers!
spg SCOTT 736 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 There is almost always a thread for RC/Betas:It is explained a little more there.https://discussion.evernote.com/topic/58577-evernote-for-windows-540-rc/
Level 5* gazumped 12,229 Posted May 8, 2014 Level 5* Posted May 8, 2014 Haven't used this myself yet, but it seems likely that 'note locking' does exactly what it says on the can - if someone else has the note open for editing, you'll be able to see a read-only version but not make any changes, thus avoiding the dreaded 'conflicts' situation. It's not something you'd want to turn off because someone else has the note open for editing - though with other systems that can also mean they went to lunch without logging out. If you don't have any shared notes this should be a completely transparent safeguard.
ScottLougheed 1,316 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 And Evernote gives the option to push through and edit anyway, in case you really do know your coworker is sitting at the lunch room at not at her desk.
