How is best way to search for specific dates in all of notebooks?

i think this is simple question but i could not find a workable solution in the help section.  i am not sure if the help has been updated for new versions and help for old versions removed. I would like to search all my notebooks for a specific date and wonder what are some ways to effectively do this.

Do you mean creation date or just a random date in the text? For created or updated  date you can just filter "Notes" (ie all notes)

 

 

Alternatively you can use the advanced search syntax. The format is:

created:20220601 -created:20220814

to find all notes created between 1 June 2022 and 14 Aug 2022.

I want to look for a specific created or edited date.  i tried your first example and that did not accomplish this.   i will try your second option although i missed your second syntax in the help section.  i tried contains: april 10,2024 in a filter and that didnt work either.  Thank you for the options!

That's strange. Works fine for me. If you want a single date (rather than a range) you need to click the date twice.

 

The equivalent advanced search syntax is:

created:20240306 -created:20240307

I want to weed out old notes and therefore need to find them.

I want to find all notes created before 2010.

This did NOT work: created:20100101

(find all notes before Jan 1st, 2010)

Can someone enlighten me?

Try it like this:

-created:20100101

Unfortunately, it does not work.

It is finding a few notes, but apparently "at random". Some are before, some are after 2010.

I DID use the "minus" sign and it does not work. It is showing plenty of notes AFTER January. 2010.

Strange. Certainly works for me. You could try the web version (if you are not already using this) to eliminate any possibility of local database problems.

Maybe as a troubleshooting step, try the command but use a date that is much later?  Maybe it's something related to the age of those notes, potentially caused by reformatting from Legacy to v 10?  Anyway, that would give you a hint as to whether it is the execution of the command itself on your installation or related to the data files on your installation.
