Problem installing evernote backup program from github

Hi,

I tried to follow a suggestion from this forum to use  the github evernote backup project for regular backups. Unfortunately, I have problems to install the program ( I am no programmer):

After installing the program as described on readme using pipx everything looked good judged from the end message on my Windows powerShell:

installed package evernote-backup 1.9.3, installed using Python 3.12.1
These apps are now globally available
    - evernote-backup.exe
done! 🌟

However, when I tried to initialize the database the problems occured:
C:\> evernote-backup init-db

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "C:\Users\49179\AppData\Local\pipx\pipx\venvs\evernote-backup\Lib\site-packages\oauth2\_version.py", line 13, in <module>
from pyutil.version_class import Version as pyutil_Version
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'pyutil'

I am now lost and have no clue what to do. I saw a similar unanswered question on the github discussion board dated end of Dec 2023 so maybe someone from this forum has some experience to give me a hint.

I use the portable binary of evernote-backup, works fine on windows 10 and 11.

Then i start it once every week with the windows task scheduler. I just have the scheduler start an easy .bat-file, which starts the backup-process.

At least backupery works very well. It is no longer supported though, but I hope it will continue to work for a long time...

I didn't know that! Thx for that info... For me I was waiting for some fixes/improvements and had to reinstall my laptop for other reasons anyway, so I'll bite the bullet and try to switch now. It's a pity. I was very happy with Backupery.

Thx for the tips. I 'installed' it and it's running now. Nice it has local cache so syncing doesn't take as much time as Backupery by @Denis L did, but I'll really miss the retention clean-up, and different folders/versions options, and the ENEX per note parallel to ENEX per note and HTML exports. Well, I'll have to learn to live with that.I

It is standard in the "shells" used to start the GitHub process that the entering of the password will not show at all. Who is on Linux knows this "typing into the vacuum" feeling.

Fortunately the access data is saved, so you just need it about once per year.
