Please offer a preference to hide the icon in the menu bar

I believe this preference was available before.

I tend my menu bar carefully and don't take kindly to applications that insert unnecessary icons. If I need Evernote, I know how to switch to it – I don't need a menu bar elephant cluttering the place up.

Agreed.   Hope they just overlooked this in the redesign and will put it back--this is one of my deal breakers for an app

+1  Some of us don't use or want an additional icon in our menu bar.  It just adds visual noise to the screen we look at every day, for no benefit.
