gregbyrne 3
I don't have an Evernote icon in my Taskbar or in the Start Menu. I also can't get it when I right click on the generic Windows icon for Evernote, click on Properties and Change Icon. Any ideas? 1 Link to comment
Level 5* gazumped 12,068 Posted September 17, 2020 Level 5* Share Posted September 17, 2020 Hi. Which version of Windows? Basic Windows stuff. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Evernote\Evernote and find Evernote.exe. Right click and choose 'send to desktop' (create shortcut). If you then right click the new icon you may be able to 'pin to start' or drag and drop the shortcut elsewhere. Link to comment
gregbyrne 3
Thanks. Windows 10.0.18362. I tried your idea already but I just get a generic Windows icon rather than the true Evernote icon. Please note, this is not a major problem and does not affect usability. It's just odd and my orderly mind would like it fixed. 1 Link to comment
Level 5* gazumped 12,068 Posted September 17, 2020 Level 5* Share Posted September 17, 2020 Hmmn. It works for me... maybe that shortcut needs to be used so that the correct icon 'registers' with Windows. You could try uninstall / restart / reinstall to fix the issue, but if its no big deal, that seems an extreme response... Link to comment
gregbyrne 3
Thanks. I'll try that. 1 Link to comment
Daniel Vartanian 2
Same here. The last Evernote updates seems to do this (missing icon issue). Link to comment
Level 5 PinkElephant 8,814 Posted January 11, 2022 Level 5 Share Posted January 11, 2022 You did notice when posting that this thread was silent for a year - a year in which there were roughly 25 releases rolled out ? So talking about "the last EN update ..." is like talking about a specific drop of water in a downpour. You mean that drop, but nobody else will be able to see it. Please be more precise about the setup, and what exactly is the problem. Link to comment
Daniel Vartanian 2
I didn't notice that. Well, there isn't a lot to be said. Is the same issue described in the first time buddy. The last EN updates result in that issue for me. Last time I just created a new shortcut and it worked fine, now this is not working anymore. I'm using Windows 10. Link to comment
Level 5 PinkElephant 8,814 Posted January 11, 2022 Level 5 Share Posted January 11, 2022 Sounds to me like an installation problem, one of these things that go wrong with this monster registry that controls Windows 10. Probably a clean uninstall (using an app like Revo Uninstaller) and a fresh install from the EN website will return the icon. Link to comment
C64_Nostalgia 2
I'm getting the same issue and Daniel (Win10). About 2 updates ago the icon in the dock turned into a blank document icon. I was hoping the new update that just got pushed would update it. No luck. I'll uninstall and I guess that should correct it. Yep. Reinstalling it was needed to get the icon back. 2 Link to comment
Daniel Vartanian 2
The icon came back without me doing anything. Maybe the Windows registry was updated automatically. If so, this may represent an issue with the Evernote updates. The software must force update the registry after installation. Link to comment

Daniel Vartanian 2
@gazumped this took months to resolve. I don't think "patience" is required in this case. When you pay for a software (like me) you expect that it works without problems. This kind of answer just show bad developing practices. 1 Link to comment

If your worst problem is that you got the icon back unexpectedly, it looks like Evernote is doing pretty well... Link to comment
