If you are a windows user you can assign a color to a tag.  For example, I have an urgent tag color coded red.  It shows up like this in list view.

Sounds like a useful workaround, but, how do I assign a color to a tag? I will give this a try.

THANK YOU! I searched Evernote Forums how to do that, works pretty good! How could I be using Evernote for about 3 years not knowing about that -.-

You're welcome.   Also, FYI you can add styles to notebook names as well: bold, italic, underline, strikethrough and colors. Right mouse button on the notebook or tag name in the left hand panel will bring up the style option.
