Chris Textor 1
Hi, How can I search thru multiple notebooks? Or... how can I search thru everything except two notebooks? I know it's possible to search with multiple tags (both in AND or OR operator), but I can't find it for nootbooks. Thanks Link to comment

rbudd 0
Thank you, DTLow. I wish there were an easier way that didn't involve so much typing. Now I have to rename all my stacks to 2-letter names! Link to comment
Chris Textor 1
What do you mean with Stack attribute. Let me explain my issue. I use Evernote for all my notes and for GTD (http://www.thesecretweapon.org/). All completed tasks I move them to a separate Notebook. I want to keep all these notes, but I don't want to see them all the time. What would be a good solution for a search so I don't find any completed tasks? Thanks. Link to comment

My use of attribute was related to items you can specify in a search Your question was about searching through multiple notebooks I can compose a search of a single Notebook using the search box notebook:xxxxxx aaaaa bbbbbb For multiple notebooks, I would still use the search box with stack:yyyyyyy aaaaa bbbbb where yyyyy is a stack of notebooks >>What would be a good solution for a search so I don't find any completed tasks? I can't exclude a notebook from a search I can only restrict my search to specified notebooks Personally, I don't flag tasks as completed by moving them to another notebook You can use a tag; I use reminders, and mark them as done. These are attributes that can be excluded in a search Link to comment

In the simplest form, keep two stacks. Stacks are collections of Evernote notebooks. Name one stack, say, Personal", and the other "Archive". Put all of your active notebooks into the Personal stack, and any non-active notebooks into the "Archive" stack. Then when you search, click on the Personal stack, which searches only the notebooks in that stack, and excludes notebooks in the Archive stack. It would be useful if the Evernote search grammar had the ability to search multiple notebooks/stacks at a time, and exclude certain notebooks or stacks, but it doesn't Link to comment

rbudd 0
How to you restrict a search to a particular stack? I can restrict the search to specific notebooks, but not stacks. Your instructions to click a stack, then search, return results from all stacks. Thanks in advance for any help on this. Link to comment

Hi,
How can I search thru multiple notebooks?
Or... how can I search thru everything except two notebooks?
I know it's possible to search with multiple tags (both in AND or OR operator), but I can't find it for nootbooks.
Thanks
