(Archived) Making a To-Do list

Okay, now this may sound stupid, but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.

How do I make a To-Do list? I keep seeing everyone mentioning To-Do lists, but the closest thing I can find is making a regular Notebook titled "To-Do", or making a label like that.

I understand that it may be a simple question, but a simple answer is all I need!

Nevermind, after messing with it for a little while I figured it out.

For those who want to know:

Make a note, as normal. Let's say you title it Grocery List.

First, hit the checkmark next to the text alignment options. This creates a checkbox, and makes the item a To-Do.

Then, type the first item. Milk, for instance.

Hit Return (Enter), repeat.

I see that you make a list on the desktop app and the iPhone can see and check the boxes, but I see no way to create a checklist from the phone.

You are right, there is no way to make one from the iPhone (yet).

Slightly different question: I have been using Things to manage my To-Dos between my iPhone and MacBook Pro. One nice thing about Things is that it picks up To-Dos out of iCal. Surely there is a way for Evernote to do the same? Thanks.

Not currently, but we're releasing an update of the Mac client early this week, which will include import and AppleScript capabilities which might make it possible to do this via a simple AppleScript.

It will be nice when it is even simpler, but for now, this is encouraging, especially the Applescript support.

I agree...Applescript support will be very nice (and I look forward to direct integration with iCal).

Do you know specifically what will be accessible via Applescript? What functions will we have access to?

Is there a way to paste in a list, highlight all, and create check boxes next to all in one go? So far I can only create one check box at a time.

By the way, shift+cmd+t also creates a checkbox.
