Today we released Evernote for Mac 10.9 (v 10.9.10 build 2439).

This release includes a lot of changes to the left navigation / sidebar, enables drag and drop for moving multiple notes, a new global keyboard shortcut, and numerous other improvements. Past release notes are archived here.

It is available now via the Mac App Store and as a direct download version from our website. If you are already running one of these versions, we are progressively rolling out to compatible devices and the new version will be available on all supported operating systems within 7 days. New to Mac 10.9

• You can now drag and drop multiple notes to move them to another notebook, space, or trash.
• A new global keyboard shortcut has been added: paste text from the clipboard into a new note from anywhere on your desktop (even if Evernote is in the background) by pressing Ctrl-Cmd-V on Mac, or Ctrl-Alt-V on Windows. This will fire a desktop notification that you can use to open the note you’ve created directly--otherwise, you can keep on working.
• You can now drag files into the left navigation menu to automatically create notes with the dragged file in the target notebook. (Note, we still need to add this functionality for shortcuts and spaces)
• If dragging a file to a stack, we fire the location selection menu prior to creating the note (so you can pick the notebook)
• We tweaked the notebook view to show the total number of notebooks you have in your account. And when you view a space you’ll now see how many notebooks and uncategorized notes are in that space.
• We’ve made a number of left navigation / sidebar changes:
  • We moved the link for sharing feedback. It’s now in the Help menu at the top of the screen. You’ll find the link to file a support ticket there as well: click “Help and Learning” to automatically authenticate to our Help Center so you can submit support requests.
  • All Notes is now called Notes, and we rearranged the list items so you can find what you need faster. And if you’re an Evernote Business customer, you can also collapse the Spaces list.
  • We made it easier for you to add new items from the sidebar. Just hover over the Notes, Notebooks, Tags, or Spaces headers and a “+” button will appear.
  • Evernote Business customers: You can now turn off the ability to see notebooks that exist in spaces in the notebooks list
• There is a new keyboard shortcuts reference menu entry point - see the tiny keyboard icon in the sidebar. When new keyboard shortcuts are added or updated, we’ll apply a small badge here. New shortcuts will be highlighted in the shortcuts menu itself and dismissible.

Fixed highlights:

• If you saved your view options for a notebook or stack then tried to switch views using a keyboard shortcut, nothing would happen.
• Sometimes the app would crash after performing a search--this should be largely resolved.
• Occasionally, the app would ask you to sign in again after a restart.
• Opening a note that was already open in another window would not bring it to the front of the main application window.
• We fixed an issue with Home that would sometimes make the background image shake.
• A few miscellaneous search bugs were resolved.

• Activate / deactivate spellcheck (click the preferences menu under the  "Evernote" application menu and uncheck “check spelling as you type” to deactivate
• Create note actions should be more performant / faster
• We added a new keyboard shortcut - open tag filters by pressing Shift-Cmd-J on Mac. This quickly opens the tag filter for your focused note list, enabling customers who rely heavily on tagging in their workflow to get to filters faster.

• The edit tags experience now has improved keyboard navigation. Use spacebar to quickly add/remove tags, enter to execute the edits you’ve made. 
• “Learn Spelling” / Add to Dictionary is now available via right click context menu in the editor. This will add the word to an Evernote custom dictionary, and it will be no longer flagged by spellcheck. 

Fixed highlights:

• Evernote kept reminding you it was up to date. It shouldn’t do that anymore. 
• Tag filter reindexing is now a lot faster. Add a tag to a note, filter by that tag and the note should near immediately be available via the filtered list (we’re still working on real time updates to tag filters that are active)  
• Old saved searches weren’t always able to be edited. 
• We’ve made a performance improvement to move note actions, but it’s incremental. More work needs to be done here. 
• Intermittent “cannot load page” errors appearing after an upgrade to 10.5.7

The keyboard shortcuts menu
With Evernote V10 we’ve heard a lot of great feedback regarding missing or changed keyboard shortcuts. We still have some work to do here and will continue to add new shortcuts. To help with both discovery of new and old shortcuts, we’ve added a keyboard shortcuts menu (available in 10.5 via CTRL + /). Our goal with the menu was to improve discoverability and in particular enable the opportunity for experimentation with the keystrokes that are available. Additionally we aimed to highlight the inline capabilities of the editor--you can find those in the last section of the keyboard shortcuts menu. Please try it out and experiment in the ways you can use V10's keyboard shortcuts.

Merging just got better
With V10 we enhanced merging by enabling you to reorder and selectively pick from merged notes. With this latest version we’ve enabled the ability to select optional line breaks and titling within the merge, as well as add a unique title to your merged note. This means for a cleaner merge experience that you can tailor a bit more closely to your liking.

Additional ways to create tags
We’ve been taking a close look at how we can improve the whole tagging experience for customers who work heavily with them. Making it easier to create tags with a keyboard shortcut, application menu option, and adding create tag to type ahead suggestions in the edit tags menu is a start. More to come.

The keyboard shortcuts menu

Today we released Evernote for Web 10.5.1. This release includes dark mode and note counts in the sidebar.

New to Evernote Web

• Dark mode
• Note counts in the side bar
• Preferences menu in the account dropdown menu that allows you to toggle note counts in the side bar and dark mode settings - set dark mode to match your system settings or stay in dark or light mode.
   

Fixed highlights:

• Active tag filters did not automatically update when tags were edited in notes - changes should now
• Sorting by update date with grouping enabled would group alphabetically
• New sketches could not render appropriately in a shared notebook
• X buttons were cut off by long emails in share menu

Today we are releasing Evernote for Windows 10.4 (v 10.4.3 build 2071). This release includes a top requested feature: top list view. Please find the new option in your view options menu. Additionally the view options menu has been added to search results to make switching there easier and a new column (URL) has been added for viewing note URL data via top and side list view. We're aware that most of the list columns are not sortable and are working on addressing that limitation.

Today we are releasing Evernote for Windows 10.3 (v 10.3.6 build 2001). This bug fix release includes a top requested feature: adding the view note counts option to the left navigation menu. It is off by default and can be toggled via the View options application menu.

Today we are releasing Evernote for Mac 10.3 (v 10.3.6 build 2001). This bug fix release includes a top requested feature: adding the view note counts option to the left navigation menu. It is off by default and can be toggled via the View options application menu.

It is available now via the Mac App Store. If you are already running the direct download version, you will see an automatic update sometime soon as we progressively roll out the update and do not need to take any action. Evernote.com/download will receive the latest version on 11/9.
 

New to Mac 10.3 -

Fixed highlights:

• Issue where a notebook would appear duplicated after creating a new note
• Issue where selecting a note in a stack or the trash required two clicks
• Customers with edit/invite access in joined notebooks can now move notes to / from the notebook

• Stability and performance improvements - in particular we’ve updated and improved the performance of note list navigation, which should feel more smooth with this release’s updates

Today we are releasing Evernote for Windows 10.2 (v 10.2.4 build 1949). This release contains some major architectural changes to help us release future features, in addition to adding system tray clipping functionality.

It is available now from the Windows Store, or as a direct download version from our website. If you are already running the direct download version, you will see an automatic update sometime soon as we progressively roll out the update and do not need to take any action.

New to Win 10.2 -

• Write quick notes and clip screenshots with the Evernote Helper companion app. (Right-click the Evernote icon in your system tray.)
• Internal links can now be independently copied as either evernote:/// (app links) or www.evernote.com (web links)
• F2 keyboard shortcut should now edit note title
• "New note" option added to notebook menu
• Improvements when using drag and drop to merge notes
• After restarting the app, Evernote now reopens the same notes and windows that were selected when the app was closed

Fixed highlights:

• Imported notes now retain their create and updated dates when importing them into Evernote
• Visual improvements to in-app pop-ups
• Print note bug fixes related to page breaks (still more work to do here)
• Importing non-enex files will no longer create a new notebook

• Create date (and time) is now editable from Note Info
• Sign in with Apple is now available at log in
• Added a new keyboard shortcut (F2)  that triggers a rename action for:
  • Notebooks when focused on a notebook in the notebook menu
  • Stacks when focused on a stack
  • Spaces that you have edit permissions on
  • Tags when you are focused on the tag in the tag menu
  • (Notes is coming soon and will also be supported by a future version)
• When left navigation menu sections are expanded, section headers are now sticky, making them easier to navigate

• Spellcheck issues seen by some customers are now fixed and respects their OS language settings
