  1. I found a release 6.25.3 on Evernote's website. Does anyone have documentation on changes from 6.25.1? 6.25.1 I was only able to find on FileHippo and other third party sites. Does anyone have documentation for the expected checksum for 6.25.1 and 6.25.3 so I can be sure I am installing unmodified Evernote software?
  2. Do we have a published checksum for the 6.25 binary on any authoritative Evernote website? I would want to make sure the FileHippo archive version has that checksum.
  3. That was worth trying, and System Restore saw the removal of 6.25 and tried to restore. It restarted the Windows system, but 6.25 is not showing as installed. Is there a way to get the Evernote 6.25 installer?
  4. Now I am totally screwed. After logging in Evernote asked me to upgrade to "the latest client" and I attempted to do so. It uninstalled version 6.25 and then went ahead and did the install. If my OS was not compatible, shouldn't their installer have done a simple OS check before completely destroying my configuration? Now I have no 6.25 and when the new program starts I get the error "The procedure entry point DiscardVirtualMemory could not be located..." I guess this is because I do not have Windows 10? They could not just do an OS check for compatibility before they started this install? It's mind boggling that this is happening. Do I have any option to find 6.25 somewhere and reinstall it after first uninstalling this dysfunctional "new client"? I see I have saved an installer Evernote_6.4.2.3788.exe. I will try to install this.
  5. I am back up as well now. But I think this was a warning shot across the bow, and I need to understand my options better now.
  6. It is simply NOT OKAY to charge me money for a service and then to yank it away from me without warning, and then to tell me that I have no recourse to use it again with the operating system that runs on my computer. People use 10 year old operating systems all the time. They should just deal with it!! Giving me a dialog that says my version is outdated and asking would I like to upgrade is NOT the same as telling me point blank: You MUST upgrade because we are going to STOP SUPPORT FOR THIS VERSION SOON. Give me a deadline and then I can plan options. I don't understand what you are saying when you say that "Evernote Web" must be an "editor"? And how do I select "the latest version"? I just went to Evernote.com and logged in. I don't see a choice for versions. I don't understand what you mean by "web client" being version 10+.
  7. I am using Evernote for Windows 6.25.1 and starting 9/25/2023, I cannot connect to the server and I cannot synch. I tried to logout and when I try to login it says it cannot reach a server. I am able to use the web version of Evernote. What are my options to resolve this, because reading the other posts it looks like Evernote is strong arming the user base to upgrading to 10+ and they did not even have the courtesy to notify us of a deadline. I start 6.25.1 and it prompts for a login. I went to Help menu to "Check for Update" and it tells me that no update is available and I am using the latest version. I guess that is all about the legacy server I was connected to no longer existing. How should I do my upgrade? Can I download the latest version 10+, and then will the installer see my existing version and attempt to do an upgrade in place? What is the last version of Evernote Windows that still supports Windows 8.1 for the installation?
  8. Where is a review that compares the old version to the new? I need to understand what features were removed and if those are optional for me.
  9. Since I don't live in Evernote, can you explain what I need to do to get onto the most recent software release? I don't understand why the software did not try to update itself over time, to keep users on the most recent releases.
  10. Where did I say I wanted to keep a file permanently? In fact the opposite: I don't want to keep the file at all. I don't want to upload the file. To me this behavior is a bug. The product should see a file is too large to import and it should notify you ONCE about that issue. Then do not import the file again. The feature is able to do that and not duplicate imports for older files it did import. So why not stay consistent to that design philosophy for all files.
  11. I use Evernote for Windows 6.25.1.9091 (309091) Public (CE Build ce-62.6.10954) and have a nested group of folders that I have linked under Tools | Import Folders. One file in that tree is too large for Evernote to import. Every time I start Evernote for Windows I get a modal dialog complaining about the size of this file. Is there any way to stop this and get the file permanently flagged as "do not upload"?
  12. The 2FA is on a cell phone and the network keeps the time correct. 2FA is working on every other website. It consistently fails only on the Evernote website. What is extremely interesting is that when I asked for an alternate authentication - sent by text message to my phone - Evernote sent me an OLD 2FA CODE that I had seen on the 2FA application minutes ago when 2FA was failing on the Evernote website!! That strongly suggests that there is a clock problem, and that problem is that the cell phone's clock is about 1.5 minutes fast. Since there is zero chance to get a cell phone company to update its clocks more accurately, could we get Evernote to configure their servers to accept codes generated within a two minute window either side of the correct time? That's a pretty reasonable time lag.
  13. I had a problem a few months ago where I logged into Evernote for the first time in a while and two factor authentication failed to work. Evernote's website was rejecting the code. So I entered by an alternate authentication route. I deleted two factor authentication. I re-established two-factor authentication. I tested to make sure it worked and it did. Now, a few months later, I tried to enter the Evernote website and once again two-factor authentication fails. What gives? This looks like a bug. I use 2FA on many websites. Evernote is the only one where it is failing to work.
  14. Did you read the thread? There was only one reply and I marked it as the answer. Select the whole list Remove the numbers format Re-apply numbers format
  15. I have automatic numbering enabled under the Windows desktop version of Evernote, and I created an ordered list of: 1 2 3 ... 7 After many edits between numbers, Evernote renumbered things in catastrophically wrong ways, similar to: 1 1 2 3 4 1 2 Is there any way for me to: * Force renumbering for the entire ordered list? * Force a specific number to start at a particular place? For example I could change the second "1" to become "2"? When I turn off numbering for a line and then change its value and have automatic numbering make it ordered, the next number becomes "1" again.
  16. Let us say that I have a Notebook that uses a set of tags that are specific to that Notebook. How do I make sure that anyone I share that Notebook with sees all of those tags, even the ones that are not in use currently? One idea I had was to create a Note, and then to attach all the Notebook tags to that document.
  17. To me it is incredibly obvious that the EN product as currently designed makes it very easy to accidentally delete Notes and not realize you have done that. You then empty the trash a month later and irretrievably lose information. It's simply a bad design and I cannot believe they did not have a warning of deletion of Notes in a modal dialog as the default behavior.
  18. Every two minutes or so the Note I am editing gets automatically saved. As soon as the save takes place, the cursor is jumping into the Title field. If I am typing rapidly, now my text ends up in the title and messes that up. I have to erase the wrong text in title, then hit tab key to reposition into the text of the Note. This behavior is driving me crazy. Is there any way to maintain the cursor position when a Note saves itself in the background?
  19. Sometimes I am reading a Note, buried deep into a multi-page PDF, when I need to refer to another Note. So far I have been losing my context by jumping to another notebook. Is there any way for me to open a second instance of the main window in Evernote? Failing that, is there any way for me to open a Note I am already reading in a new window, while preserving any context I may have inside that Note? I know that once you are in a Note, you can open up a Note Link with <shift>+<left-mouse-click>. I see that <ctrl>+<ENTER> does something similar when opening a Note, but that will not catch your context if you were already reading the note and have advanced through many pages of a PDF.
  20. Okay, I solved my own problem. I stopped Evernote then searched for a file named user.dic in my Evernote subfolder in my user profile. That has the dictionary words listed one word per line and can apparently be edited outside Evernote. Are these dictionary words specific to just this one device? They are not shared across all my devices?
  21. I accidentally added a misspelled word into my EverNote dictionary. Is there any way for me to remove this word? Where is the dictionary stored, and how do I review and change its contents? I am using the latest Windows version under Windows 8.
  22. I am the user of a Shared Notebook created by another Evernote user. I understand that only the creator of the Notebook can create tags. But I have a more basic problem: how do I even discover which tags already exist? I think it is a horrible design to suggest that these can be documented in a manually created Note. News alert: a) Notebook creators can make spelling errors; b) Creators can forget to make updates to the Note; c) It's just really inconvenient to the user to take them outside of the interface for editing a Note to go hunting down tags Isn't there some way for me to pull up the list of tags created in that Notebook? If that feature doesn't exist, someone needs to add it. It's incredibly basic to the function and usability of the product.
