it will accelerate that change while breaking the existing integrations

I want this issue resolved too. It's frustrating that I cannot connect to my productivity apps the way I expect them to, and that's one of the driving values of my Evernote usage.

Something to note, this will only get worse before it gets better. While Evernote/Bending Spoons, I'm sure, still intends to update the API it would be at this point a whole new API might make sense to eliminate much technical debt. (Of course, they may intend to stay with Thrift.) They will need to wrestle with which API protocol to choose (again), which would likely break all the existing integrations that don't update to the new API protocol, and specs.

Realistically, the existing dev.evernote.com isn't going to be touched until they decide to do something with the API. It hadn't been updated in years, why start now? Lol.

I'm saying all this to temper everyone's expectations around this (as an outsider looking in) because it's a heavy lift that doesn't seem to be top-of-mind for Bending Spoons at this time, and when it does hit the roadmap it's going to be like the transition from Legacy to v10+!

@DaJoLo, good to meet you. Something like this window should appear. I wonder, do you have any malware/antivirus/security software running on your device? If so, make an exception to Evernote and/or Google Drive (which may require evernote.com and drive.google.com URI exceptions, not sure; that's a question for your security software vendor) and see if that doesn't allow the window to display.

get the prior behavior, where the original document is updated, you need to use the legacy client.

I must never have used this in Evernote Legacy, but can you detail the behavior that is different in Evernote 10+? The behavior I am understanding in Evernote Legacy as: I take a document (for sake of argument, a Microsoft Word document called Example.docx) from my Documents folder in Finder and drag into a note in Evernote. Then, I open that copy of Example.docx in Word, make edits, save and close back into the note. Now, I navigate to my Documents folder in Finder and that Example.docx will also be changed by my edits. Is that the behavior you're saying Evernote Legacy had?

    Thanks in advance for clarifying.

  4. Per @Stacey's well-crafted request for Evernote Desktop (Mac), Request: Expand "view as" options to multiple attachment types, I'm making the same request here for Evernote Desktop (Windows). I searched here in the forum, but I couldn't see one that discussed this feature in v10 or later.

Briefly, just as you can use the More Actions ( ⁝ ) menu on a PDF attachment to View As... Attachment, Single Page, or All Pages, I think it would be greatly useful to get such a preview of Microsoft Office documents (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), as well as Google Drive documents (Docs, Sheets and Slides).

    Thanks!

I believe but cannot check that there is a similar option in the iOS app.

Sadly, at present, I just looked in my updated Evernote Mobile app on iPadOS and this option isn't there. So, I'll presume this doesn't exist on iOS either. Once they bring widgets to iOS/iPadOS hopefully they'll have parity to Android Widgets and will give you the ability to pin a note to your home screen too. 🤞🏻

  6. Agreed, and I hope you can add an option to turn this additional link security/transparency measure off for all aspects of the app (Web, desktop and mobile). In many environments, this is unnecessary and confusing to Evernote users when other security measures are already in place. It's fine for unwitting users, but for those of us and those we support, we should be able to deactivate this. Thanks!

Don't know.  Could you test it on your use cas and let us know?

I wish I could test, but I don't know how to execute the feature! 🤣 I checked the box to activate the feature, supposedly. But, I don't see an interface option.

I wonder if it's for PDFs, or other documents, that are multi-page?

I was hoping it was for multiple pages hyperlinked from a singular web page, similar to how some Web browsers download/save pages and their linked-to pages.

    How do I do that?

My understanding is that Evernote for Mac automatically indexes your notes in Apple Spotlight, unless you specifically disallow its Library. So, you simply need to title your note uniquely (e.g., make your note title something like ### Note Title) and then search Spotlight by the keyboard shortcut (⌘ space on my system) and then typing the first few characters of the unique note title.

I suspect a part of the vertical spacing on mobile is driven by a desire for each item in the list to be easily selectable, and the reality that some people (like me) have relatively - um - broader fingers than others.  (Otherwise known as the "fat finger problem".) .

In addition to simply the fat finger problem 😂, I think it's important to recognize/point out that Evernote needs to work for people with common mental/physical limitations (like essential tremor)...that spacing allows for greater accuracy for these individuals with limited dexterity. As the family member of someone who suffers with tremors, I am conscious of making sure that links and buttons on mobile are well-spaced. So, for WCAG 2.0 mobile accessibility compliance and to appeal to users (like @JMichaelTX) perhaps an option such as several Google products provides of preferred (default, compact and comfortable) spacing could be useful in this instance.

A mail forwarding rule is a feature of most email client software.

It also resolves an issue with Evernote dropping mail header information.

Yes, that can be done quite easily. It simply doesn't help the user with aesthetics/control of that email address, especially if you're sharing it with others (such as close family members, colleagues, or an administrative assistant).

I like to create project-based email addresses for colleagues to email into my Evernote project notebook. Then, upon completion of that project, I delete that email address. Now, I don't worry about them continuing to litter my Evernote account with forwarded messages (even by mistake). 😉

  11. For those who have the desire for ultimate personalization (not for the average user), and you have/register your own domain, you can create a forwarding email of your own design to your existing Evernote email-into address. So, if you had mypersonaldomain.com you could create an alias forwarding address evernote@mypersonaldomain.com to send to your evernoteuser3432432@m.evernote.com address.

attached two screenshots with how a given clipped article would appear in full screen in both Evernote and Pocket

So, it looks like all visual formatting, which seems like it could be done via these new "containers" from the original clip from the EWC. Thanks for the clarification! I think it would behoove Evernote to create something like this, narrowing the body content, slightly more readable typeface and larger font size. Although, Evernote seems to have a stronger contrast ratio than Pocket...not sure how that fits into WCAG 2.0 accessibility ratings and user experience. But, yes, this sounds like a great improvement once/if this new container-ized Web clip option comes to Evernote.

What is described here is not available in v. 6.19.2 of the Windows Evernote program (as far as I can tell in a brief test). Is there any information about when it will be?

No, they're not giving a timeline. I think once they've stabilized the features in the Note Editor inside Evernote Web, they'll have a better idea about timelines for pushing this to the desktop and mobile software. 🙏🏼
