  1. You might have not looked at DT for a while.
    1. valid. Apply only.
    2. you can make all in iCloud.
    3. The moment I run it. I feel so at ease. Not really difficult to use. Of course, I haven’t explore all features. Take a look at the new iOS client. It does more than a viewer.
    4. Of course there is trial. 1 month or 15 hours, whichever is later. I always believe paying the developer for good product. Not looking for free plan.

have been in a similar situation to yours and have migrated to devonthink in october - only regret not having done so earlier. for me and my use cases / my setup devonthink is truly an upgrade in comparison to any version of EN.

I have summarized my experience with the migration over at their forums. here's the link, if you are interested: https://discourse.devontechnologies.com/t/moving-from-evernote-to-devonthink-in-2020/59211

Thanks for the good writeup. It certainly has made me more confident to spend time and effort to move to DevonThink.  I have spend too much time on Evernote v10 and spend too much evaluating other app that couldn't make it a good replacement.

I have some use cases as you.  So, I am hopeful that I can make the switch soon.

  3. But the activity log contains too much info.  I am not willing to send to them.

"The activity log also contains information about your account, your device, and your location information (if enabled). The titles of your notes, tags, notebooks, attached files, and, if your account was having network syncing errors, some of your note content, may also be contained in the activity log."

  4. I don't think going back the Legacy way will ever happen.  v10 is here to stay.  I don't like v10 UI/UX and all the inconsistency.  If there is a good alternatives (have not found one yet), I will move.  But until then, I will just live with v10 and Legacy.  When the Legacy stops, that will trigger the move or a good alternative comes up, whichever is earlier.

I'm no expert, but it's my understanding that the M1 handles memory differently

    https://www.macworld.com/article/3597569/m1-macs-memory-isnt-what-it-used-to-be.html

One consequence is that the Activity Monitor can show memory usage of 25 GB total, even with a nominal RAM of 8GB. However, this generates only a low (green) memory pressure. In a quick trial, with MANY apps and pages open, I found it very hard to push the M1 into the yellow zone.

Bottom line, I'm not convinced that the slower performance of EN 10.6.9 versus Legacy is a consequence of insufficient RAM.

On the other hand, a fresh install of EN on a new machine (or downloading offline notes on an iPad) can use a lot of CPU (300-400%) and cause the device to get quite warm until a new database is created—especially with a large database.

My M1 MacBook Air 8GB ram is almost always in the yellow zone.  I have to always manually close the application to get it back to green.  There are times the spinning wheel will come out that some apps just hanged!  The only way out is to close some apps to release memory.

One of the app that I need to close is Evernote to get the system back to normal.

  6. I open a support ticket.  And this is their reply.  I don't think we are going to have a fixed when they call it a limited feature.  Not bug.

I wasn't sure if you are selecting notebooks by pressing "Enter" on your keyboard. If you are selecting a notebook by pressing "Enter" and the move button is grayed out, then I would like to inform you that I am able to recreate this. This is a limited feature in Evernote and we will not be able to move notes by pressing "Enter" on a notebook.

We will have to select the desired notebook by clicking the mouse to enable the move button. Please know that we can't move notes in a shared notebook, unless given permission by the owner or if we are the owner.

They call it a Keyboard Shortcut to Move Note.  But you need to use a Mouse.  What a joke!

  7. I use Evernote Reminder as the Tickler file.  With cronofy, I have it in google calendar.  When the day comes, I can immediately drag it to schedule the exact time that I want to perform the task, with reference to the notes.

Day to day GTD task management follow TSW, 1-Now, 2-Next, 3-Soon, 4...etc.  If I need to have the 1-Now tasks to be performed on that day, I just put a Reminder.  Cronofy will have it in my google calendar almost instantly, with a link to the notes.

With the wonderful tags, the notes are full of context, when you open up to carry out your tasks.  Of course, you can also have checklist in your notes if there are more than 1 steps/tasks you need to perform.

Ever since v10, I have spend too much time testing/trying/adjusting/adapting the new ways (they call it features) of doing things.  Not going to do testing for them anymore.  I am simply a user to use it as a productivity tool to aid me in my work or workflow.

For now, I will just bear with v10 current features & bugs & inconvenient to carry out my workflow.  If needed, go back to Window v6.25.1.9091 (not the legacy) to get things done.

  8. While I can activate the Keyboard Shortcut for Move Note, I cannot move the note.

What I mean is: You can activate the keyboard shortcut.  The Window pop up for you to select the Notebook you want to move to.  You can use arrow up/down to move to select the Notebook.  The problem is: You cannot select the Notebook.  Because you cannot select the Notebook, the Move button is not enable.  You cannot move the note.

Workaround?  You use your mouse to select the Notebook!

Do you guys face this problem?  Or is it just me?  Is this a bug or feature?
