  1. I have now noticed another issue.  On both my web portal and the Window app, when I mark a task as done it disappears and then reappears minutes later.

I have to use my mobile to mark tasks as done and presently as this access/action overrides everything for tasks- certainly on my account

Note sync is fine on all - changes happen but tasks can only be changed/added from Mobile.  I have faulted this out to support.

    Is anyone else experiencing this?

EN10.85.2 started to support of anchored links and creation of TOC (Table Of Content) sections. EN10.80.3 added support to collapse/uncollapse sections below headlines and list items.

Together these are great features but need (and I'm sure will get) some enhancement to get really usable. Here are some of my ideas:

    • Anchored link should display headline text automatically (including color)
      • If you create and paste an anchored link, it shows the title of the note
        • This might be OK if you paste link to an other note
      • But normal case will be to paste the link inside the current to allow a reader to jump around note sections
      • If an headline text changes, text of anchored links should change also (automatically)
      • Within notes an anchored link text should be displayed in the same color of the headline it points to

    • If the destination of an achored link is collapsed, the section should be un-collapsed automatically
      • For the moment the user has no glue what's happening because the cursor is lost ☹

    • If note is displayed in a separate window, clicking on an anchored link displays the note in EN's main window
      • Annoying - a user surely does not want to leave the current window 😤

    • Jumping to an anchored link from outside EN should open a new note window
      • This was possible in former EN versions and should be implemented in EN10 also to avoid disturbing the current EN display

    • There are no keystrokes available to collapse and uncollapse sections
      • Writers would like to use their keyboard without mouse as long as possible
      • For the moment you can collapse and uncollapse sections only by clicking [>] and [v] icons with the mouse...
      • I'd like to get Alt-Right-Arrow and Alt-Left-Arrow to uncollapse and collapse a section below a headline or list item
        • Some would like to use Shift-Right-Arrow or Shift-Left-Arrow like Windows Explorer uses to open/close subfolder - but these keystrokes are used to select text within note editing windows. This behaviour should not be changed.
        • Ctrl-Right-Arrow and Ctrl-Left Arrow are also not a good choice because they're used to move the cursor to the next or previous word.

    • /-Command to insert a TOC should create TOCs only from current position to end of the note
      • Often a document (note) starts with a headline like "Content" just at the beginning - followed by the table itself.
      • For the moment all inserted TOC start with "Content" as a first line - can be removed easily but might be  inhibited by EN itself😉

    • Internal links should be displayed in green color
      • ... as it was the case until anytime within the last patches😉
      • Anchored links (as base of the TsOC) are used for navigation inside EN which should be clearly separated from links to outside

    • Anchored links (and TsOC) should work in publicly shared note view, HTML and PDF exports also
      • If you click on an internal link within a share note (like https://tinyurl.com/missing-in-EN10), an EN account will be opened instead of simply jumping around inside the web page.
      • At least with HTML and PDF exports, the problem might be easy to solve: EN has to change internal link addresses to point relative to the document (do not use evernote:///... syntax in address)
      • In case of publicly shared note views, solution is the same - but conversion has to take place with every download of the page from server because the note view should show the actual state of a note...

    • ... (will be extended as more ideas come up...)

Is there a way to get TOCs to work in shared notes on the web?  When I click on a note I have shared to the web for my team, and click on a TOC link, it asks them to open an Evernote Account which they don't have.

My version in EN just jumps to the part of the note I require so works fine in the app.

@darrenbuttoniow There are broadly five ways of creating a task and all are working for me...

    Inside a note...
    1. Type () folowed by the task information
    2. Tap the blue + icon in the menu bar OR use the / command and then type in your task information
    3. Type the task description, leave the cursor at the end of the text and use the blue + or / command to convert that text to a task

Or from the task pop out window or in the task widget on the home screen
    4. Tap the icon with a circle, + and check mark

    5. Alt+T

Right now all of these are working for me. If one of these is what you are attempting but don't work I'd suggest a standard computer reboot, failing that a full uninstall with Revo Uninstaller (Windows) or AppCleaner (Mac)

    10.84.3-win-ddl-public (20240409145102)
    Editor: v177.16.3
    Service: v1.100.4

    Windows 11 Pro

Hi thanks for reaching out - I know all the way to create tasks, it's just the system won't let me create them presently from the main task button/option and also for tasks already created, it won't let me tick that they are complete.

The Option to type () works but the task disappears and then appears back on my task list a few minutes later.

I have raised a ticket as this keeps happening on my account, so I am assuming it's an account thing as opposed to a function issue.

Could be a local database corruption problem. Logout of EN and choose "remove my Evernote data from this device". You can then sign back in. If that doesn't work then a complete uninstall using something like Revo uninstaller might be necessary.

Mike P I have submitted a ticket and I know that may be the solution they suggest but this remove-all is becoming a regular occurrence

  5. As of today, Evernote for Windows will not allow me to add tasks.  I either have to use the web version or my phone.  I have restarted my pc and tried it on my work pc too.  Both are Windows machines and worked fine on 7th Feb.

The video attached showing the issue.

Update - Web seems to be the same too now so might just be my account?

@evernote reached out to my support ticket and this worked for me:

Please follow these steps as they should help you overcome the issue:

    1. Check that your content is present on Evernote Web version
    2. Go to File Explorer
    3. Search for %AppData% folder
    4. In this folder, look for Evernote and delete the entire folder
    5. Reinstall Evernote

The above worked for me after submitting a ticket

  8. I have been having the above issues now for about a week and half. Notes not syncing, losing content and tasks out of sync. I have used Evernote since 2011 and these issues have made my question my reliance on the product. I currently pay for Professional and my life is in there. I use it over 3 machines and they all show something slightly different at present.

The support team are working on my case, like many others but Evernote needs to restore my trust.

Yet over the last 10 days I have had to use backup methods, mainly Google Drive to ensure I have stuff when I need it.

    What are your backup methods?

I've had this issue for several of my notes --- plus persistent elevated CPU usage (on Windows Desktop App). I call this phenomenon "relapsing notes, " or "sticky notes," where the note state stubbornly resists change / snaps back to its prior state. I submitted a support ticket weeks ago, along with log information. My ticket was transferred to the technical support team, but I have not heard back.

I am in the same situation but they did reach out and state that due to the number of tickets responses would take longer than usual

Dear all, in v10 the public sharing of a notebook was removed. Finito, Bang, Basta, Kaput. See the help article I posted.

It seems the function in the background was kept, but probably the trigger from the client is broken. So maybe there is still something in the public care, but it is not reliable and should be discontinued. Public sharing is still possible for individual notes.

To share a notebook, the recipients must receive an individual invitation by email - as correctly described in the opening post in this thread. This sort of sharing is private, and it still works fine. The share will show in the "Shared with me" section of the left column.

A working alternative is the EN-to-Blog concept offered by a 3rd party company. However watching at how man Free users are here used to get rich features without contributing, I doubt they will pick up this bill.

Solved but means I have to share 67 notes as opposed to one Notebook 🙄
