  1. Thanks Gazumped 🙂 The audio files are on a local external SSD drive. If you look again at the cel above l: 'Township idea.MP3', you should be able to see the cell to the left, which is a link Township Idea, which links to the parent note for all my notes about that tune, . That note contains exectly the same audio link, which plays immediately. There's a similar relationship with 'Tie No Labels', where the audio link, on the same SSD drive, plays back instantly. Also notice the cell to the left of that, which has a similar link to the parent song Tie No Labels pete
  2. Thanks agsteele, I am stymied by the fact that my v7 app, seems to have updated to v10 😞 including my 2 more backups. I need a v7 to reinstall, Any ideas? pete
  3. I am now using Tables to map out my recording project, and it all looks well ( apart from v10 failing to link to local files) My problem is that while most MP3s will play audio, some don't. I attach 3 screenshots showing: 1. part of the table, 2. a successful play, 3. an unsuccessful one. Both MP3s are in the same directory, both play within their respective notes, but one doesn;t ply inm the table - it offers to save it. Any ideas? Pete 3 attachments: Naked Table fragment. ( before playing any audio) 'Tie no Labels' plays fine 'Townshio Idea' gets me a file dialog ( you can see the audio link above the dialog) pete
  4. good grief! Life's too short... 😉 Thank you, at least I know now pete
  5. I installed v10 a long time ago, and it didn;t disable the Legacy software. I used both in parallel and they were happy. But about 6 weeks ago v7 stopped synching, and now it's transmogrified into v10. Where can I download v7 ( for mac?) pete
  6. Thanks for replying, but I want to know where the file actually lives. pete
  7. Today, on launching v7 for Mac, I discovered that it had been automatically updated to V10. Why? V7 was critical to my work as it allowed me to refer to local files. Despite many kind responses, nobody has shown me how to get v10 to do that. My workflow will suffer pete
  8. Somehow these 2 databases were once common, now they're disconnected. How can I get V7 to sync wioth v10 again? pete
  9. I have made a table of compositions that are works in progress (WIP), and evey row contains a column with MP3 snippets of each composition. Works beautifully. I am also preparing a gig, where I want to do a similar job, but with compositions that I want to perform. Some of those tunes are in my WIP table, some older ones are not, If I copy an MP3 from my WIP table to to my gig table, have I created a second MP3 somehere on my local drive, or are they all aliases of the original MP3 on my local drive? pete
  10. Hi Pink, thanks for your patience and feedback. I followed your advice and didn;t get the result you get. I attache 3 pics: 1. My version of your screenshot 2. My note with the name of the link 3. After clicking the note, my response from Evernote Evernote, despite me clicking on 'link' and file:// etc gets me a window offering me an attachment, not a file. I want the folder. Any ideas? pete
  11. Please try, and let me know if it works for you? pete
  12. How do I get v10 to hyperlink to a local file, please? I've been waiting for that feature since v10 emerged from its egg... pete
  13. I've been using v7 alongside v10 as they seem to track eash other, edit by edit, either way. I assume this means a common DB. I've been doing this because v7 gives me local links 🙂 Sadly, after some fiddling because of other disk problems, v7 no longe tracks v10. prior to this disengagement, will they have been using a common resource, and if so, where might it find it? pete
  14. thansk again for your resonse. 🙂 I have been using Evernote for years to play my own MP3s, although I posted recently that Evernote 7 has stopped doing so ( " plugin unavailable") And yes, I exported two contrasting files to Desktop and could see no difference, at least from 'Get Info". Maybe there's a buffer full somewhere? I'll contact support pete
  15. I have a table containing MP3s in cells. Some of them play, others take me to the finder 'save' dialog without playing. Why don't all the MP3s behave the same way? pete
  16. My question was whether you could access my MP3s on Evernote, and I think your answer answered 🙂 thanks again
  17. Interesting! I would explore that routs if I thought there was a risk that pesky pirates would steal my ideas. Is that likely given my current workflow? Can you, for example, play back one of my MP3s? pete
  18. Sorry, I wasn;t clear. I'm a composer and the MP3s I refer to are my own sketches that I use within Evernote to assist my workflow. 🙂 Thanks for your response, gazumped 🙂
  19. It looks as though it might be unwise to have working ( copyright) MP3s in Evernote, since anyone else can download them. Thoughts? pete
  20. My v7 on Mac seems to be fine, but obviously that would depend on my usage.I agree that v10 has some unique delicious features but I'm not sensing any decay in v7What have you noticed? pete
  21. I now have both v10 and v7 open at the same time. I use v10 for its better GUI and better tools, and if I want a local file, I simply switch to v7. The notes synchronise both ways. This means that to link to a local file involves a single keystroke.
