wildrice1 2 Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 I am trying to drag and drop a Microsoft Word document from a file on my desktop into a note in Evernote. It only saves in Evernote as a link and not as an open document that I can read in Evernote. I have to click on the link which then opens Word in order to view the document. PDF's when I drag them into Evernote, display as an open page that I can read in Evernote, however not a Word document. What am I doing wrong??? Thanks
Level 5 CalS 5,327 Posted October 14, 2015 Level 5 Posted October 14, 2015 You aren't doing anything wrong. Assuming you are referring to an icon with the name of the document in it as the link (sample below). EN doesn't display the contents of the Word file it just stores the file. You still have to open Word to view or edit the document.
Level 5 JMichaelTX 4,120 Posted October 14, 2015 Level 5 Posted October 14, 2015 In EN Mac, it will (optionally) display all of the MS Office documents inline in the Note, just like it does PDF files.
Level 5 CalS 5,327 Posted October 14, 2015 Level 5 Posted October 14, 2015 Plus one for Mac, nice bit of functionality there that is absent in Windows.
wildrice1 2 Posted October 14, 2015 Author Posted October 14, 2015 JMichael, You stated EN Mac. I assume you mean Evernote Mac. I am on a Macbook Pro, El Cap, Evernote 6.1.1. I can't figure out how to display the Word Doc inline in the note and not just the link. What did you mean by "optionally." Thanks
Level 5 JMichaelTX 4,120 Posted October 14, 2015 Level 5 Posted October 14, 2015 To show the MS Word or MS Excel document inline in EN Mac, just right-click on the document icon and select "View Inline".However, I believe you have to be a Premium account owner to do this.
el3ctronics 0 Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 I see that this request is already 1.5 years old but as someone who uses Windows at work, this is a major missing feature for me. Hoping this gets implemented soon!
