Evernote not functioning properly. HELP

I have Evernote V5.5.1 free version on a Macbook OSX6.8 

 

History:

Downloaded & Worked with evernote 2 years ago for a couple of months, I abandoned it though because I found it had a few synch bugs, and I found the layout & workflow unattractive & quite complicated. I have a new work project now & wanted to give evernote another try!. 

 

ISSUE:

When I launched evernote I REALIZED THAT IS NOT RESPONDING PROPERLY...

1) When I go to sidebar, and click on a specific notebook (I have 23 Notebooks on the sidebar) nothing changes on the filters notes list section. It always shows all the notes, instead of the only the notes nesting inside that specific notebook

2) At the bottom of the sidebar the word "Connecting" appears almost permanently (with the exception of when I manually synch evernote).

3) I moved a couple of notes, from one book to another, however instead on only moving them evernote also left a copy in the notebook the notes originally nested!

 

? Solution:

Is this normal? Should I reinstall evernote? If I do, can I save the already existing notes? any other solution to fix this erratic behavior?

You wrote "OSX6.8", but I assume you mean "OS X 10.6.8", which is Snow Leopard.

 

I don't know for sure, but I suspect your problems stem from the very old version of Evernote and/or OS X.

IAC, you should be able to view all of your sync'd Notes using the EN Web client at Evernote.com.

 

The current version of EN Mac is 6.0.11, but it requires at least Mac OS X Lion, preferably Mavericks (10.9.5) or Yosemite (10.10.3+).

 

There are many other good reasons and benefits for upgrading your Mac OS.

So, my suggestion would be to upgrade Mac OS X to at least Mavericks, or to the latest version the Mac HW will support.

 

Then download/install EN Mac from the Evernote.com web site.

Wish I could upgrade my (Late 2007) Macbook, however It can only go up to OS10.7.5, (Lion) nothing above (Apple makes sure about that ). It still would make sense that such a basic (databrowsing & archiving) program like EN would work with my operating system. . . or even older.

Mac OS X Lion (10.7.5) will work.  Latest ver of EN Mac will run on that.

UPDATE & MORE INFO on the issue:

 

Just noticed that every time I try to quit EN, there's a "A file attachment may be currently open in another app." message appearing: (see attached screen captured..), which together with the constant EN "Connecting" activity (at the bottom of my EN sidebar),  might mean that EN is constantly trying to complete some auto action that never completes, thus forcing EN to act erratically.

 

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Thx, however I try to avoid Upgrading, if necessary. Upgrading always comes with surprises and a lot of time needed for fixing and adapting to them. especially the case for 10.6.8 to 10.7.5. I will only upgrade as a last option.

Showing up where, and syncing from where?

The sync process is:     Device <> Server <> Device

My edits were there and then they vanished i do not know how to restore said edits.

Is this a Mac?  Are the notes still there?  If not, check the Trash.

The servers and the device did not synch at all. I do not know to fix that, since it was trying to synch several times, and then it simply vanished without rhyme nor reason.

Its from a Mac laptop, and i checked the trash, but it is empty how do i find my most recent edits and additions notes, i know it can be done, i just forgot how to do so, it was 3 years now.

Where were these notes created?

Viewed in descending update sequence, Thursday notes should be close to the top of the list

It is at the top of the list, but it is still not synching properly. They were there and then they vanished after I tried to get it to synch properly. Just there and hen they are gone. Like they vanished in a puff of smoke.

My Evernote notes dream project #3 is not synching from Thursday where it was there for a short time, before vanishing same problem as before.

My idea of syncing is notes entered on my iPad sync to my Mac

The master version of our notes is stored on the Evernote servers and can be viewed with a web browser at www.evernote.com

You might check there for your missing notes,
