Disable Recent List

How can one disable or hide the "Recent" list that appears in the "Notebooks" window? It's a matter of privacy. It wasn't there in earlier releases. All I want is the "Your List" to appear.

You don't say which client you are working on, so shooting in the dark.

On the Mac client you can just right-click on the "Recent Notes" header and select "Remove from sidebar".

I cannot find a way of doing this. Something tells me that it won't be something you could turn off. 

 

Are you sharing your computer with others? Just wondering why it would be a privacy issue for you!

There is a semi-secret registry setting, "RecentNotebooksCount" that governs the number of recent notebooks shown in a notebook list such as pops up when you do a Copy or Move to notebook (I prefer it to be larger than the default of 3), and I had hopes that it would govern the Notebook Panel's list as well, but sadly it doesn't.

I'm disappointed that Evernote doesn't have the ability to disable the recent list, but thank you all for trying to help me, I appreciate it.

On the browser based application you can star and create shortcut to desired notebooks and notes.  Could you perhaps use this feature instead of the notebook list which displays the recent notes??

On Mac, your solution works while I have the application open, however, if I quit the application and reopen it, the recent notes are right back there in the sidebar. Is there any way to permanently disable this feature?

It's actually quite simple to hide the recent notebooks.  Go to Tools>Options.  In the lower left hand portion of the options screen there should be a box to check  to Show Advanced Options.  Check the box and then when the new options show up, set the Maximum Number of Recent Notebooks to 0.
