Anyone else using Evernote for cataloging their wine library?

I've developed a personal system for cataloging my wine library in EN. Wondering if anyone else is doing this?

Title: <Winery> <Year> <Varietal or Name>

Body:

Alcohol content %

Location in wine fridge

Picture of front and back of the bottle.

Tags:

var_<varietal>: e.g. "var_CabernetSauvignon"

loc_<location>: e.g. "loc_US", "loc_California", "loc_Napa"

vin_<year>: e.g. "vin_2008"

Thoughts?

Phil Libin (CEO) isn't cataloguing the wine he drinks, but the wine he owns. He also has a couple other shared notebooks, but not as organized as yours (see the first three on this page http://www.princeton.edu/~cmayo/sharednotebooks.html)!

And if it does not meet your needs, you can create a custom wine template to store your wine library in Evernote.

With all the marijuana use in California and the large number of unusual people living there, I was not surprised to see one of the wines comes from a very appropriately named winery: the Smoking Loon Wine Company http://www.smokingloon.com

This thread is a year old, I know, but I've just built a small-ish wine area in my basement and use Evernote to log data for each bottle. 

The main reason is that I can attach a QR code to a specfic bottle which instantly calls up the Evernote entry.  Quite cool.

I use tags to crudely classify the wines into red, white, bubbly, port etc.  Then, I can quickly inventory what I have and adjust buying if it's out of balance. 

Easy and quick.

My one concern with Evernote is the PC/Win version.  You can edit too freely, and delete stuff inadvertently.  Whereas on the Glaxy, the default view is view only, and you have to pro-actively choose to edit.

Is there not a way on the PC to lock a Notebook such that I have to deliberately choose to make it editable, in the same way?

I do love your idea of using QR codes. How do you get a QR code to link to an Evernote entry?

Quite easy: select "share" for the evernote/bottle in question. It presents you with the option to "Copy URL", and with that url now on the clipboard you can open one of the many QR code generators in your browser, paste it in...et voilà.

When you print it you can attach to a wine hanger or tape it directly onto the bottle.

It works like a charm.

Very interesting Clougley.  Can you tell me more?  So you use one note per bottle?  Any chance of a peek at how you've laid it out?  My cellar is a bit of a mess and I want to log what I have - and particularly when it should be drunk.  I think I have too many keepers and not enough drinkers....
