Can log in with browser, but not on in the app (OSX)

When I try to log in the app, I get an error message, "Client not supported, please upgrade". Since EN has no actual support, I'm forced to post here and hope some other user has had the same problem. And yes, I did try the EN help, but it has only a few choices, none of which are relevant. Does someone know what's wrong?

What version are you using?  Have you tried to download the latest client from Evernote’s website? As of today, only v10 will sync.  Legacy has been shutdown.
