004 - Import from ENEX does not preserve note update date

Recommended Posts

Bug Description
  • If you export notes und re-import them later, all notes get an Updated date "just now"

Expected behaviour
  • An import operation should retain the Update date of the note before export

There is nothing to retain. Imported notes are new notes, not the old ones that took a loop through an ENEX file. They have no note history, and the first action of their existence is to be created.

But if you opted to save the creation date when exporting, the new note is created with the existing creation date.

Updated dates now change for all sorts of reasons so I don't think this issue can be treated in isolation and nobody should be relying on the date updated to hold vital information.  I suppose there is a case for arguing that import is different, along the lines of "time is frozen between export and import" especially as exporting is one of the only actions that does not lead to a change in the date updated.
