Jordan Thompson 31
Is there an easy way to do this? I want a copy of the evernote files on my drive that I can access directly. I want to export the note along with any attachments into a local folder. I have lost too much data and no longer trust evernote. I am migrating to Google Drive as that has all of the features I use in Evernote. Link to comment
Level 5* gazumped 12,075 Posted September 19, 2023 Level 5* Share Posted September 19, 2023 Hi. If you have access via a desktop, go to the Notebooks page and click the three-dots menu to the right of any notebook name. You should be able to export all notes to a variety of formats. If you have lost data I hope you contacted Evernote Support to see if there was a possibility to recover it. Link to comment
Jordan Thompson 31
This is the second time this has happened. The first time, evernote spent a month loolking for the data, gave up and gave me a free year to placate me. This time I am not even going to bother. I have 10 years of data I need to export 😕 Link to comment
Level 5 PinkElephant 8,838 Posted September 19, 2023 Level 5 Share Posted September 19, 2023 There are 2 ways for a bulk backup. Backuppery, a paid service that can run different sorts of cloud services backup. A GitHub project by a fellow user, that will use a Python script to export a full account to a database. From the database ENEX files can be created. As third concept you can export each notebook individually. The effort depends on the number of notebooks. Link to comment
Jordan Thompson 31
I exported the folder as individual html files. Nearly all of my notes have pdf attachments. When I open the html file for the note, the link to the pdf is there, but it doesn't work. On the otherhand, the pdf is there (in the folder but not accessible from the html file) and Drive is able to search inside of it. One thing I don't know how to resolve (easily) in Drive is the note concept (having text and the pdf in the note/file): when I scan a new pdf into Drive it will create a new pdf and put it into my todo folder. I can rename the pdf file and move it to the appropriate folder, but will not be able to attach notes to it. I could create another new folder, move the pdf into it and add a text document, but this seems klunky and time consuming (even though I don't normally do this very often.) Any suggestions on this? Jordan Thompson 31
I see that you can add notes directly to the pdf (via a pdf editor like foxit) AND you can add notes in Drive, but neither of these methods allow for searching 😞 Link to comment

There's a reason that specialised software exists for that type of process. With sufficient effort and technical savvy you could possibly cobble together a system to save editable data to your hard drive, but it will involve several applications, and it won't be a 'seamless' activity. If you still have your basic notes in a free Evernote account you can search for your content there - I'd suggest you look around for a new note-taking app for future use. 1 Link to comment
Jordan Thompson 31
Well, actually, I really want an application that won't lose my data.🙄 Drive does allow searching inside pdf files, just (AFAIK) not the additional notes. Link to comment
