Legally you still have the subscription, you just didn’t provide a valid means of payment. An expired card has nothing to do with stopping a subscription.

You need to end your subscription. How to do this depends on the way you had subscribed: Direct subscriptions in the account settings, store subscriptions through the store used to subscribe (AppStore, PlayStore, etc.).
