Android Alert

I set up a note with an alert on my Android phone but didn’t receive the alert. I later went to the Evernote app to investigate and it sounded the alert sound after I opened the app. Am I to understand that I will only get the alert sound when the app is open or am I missing the obvious?

No, in general I get alerts regardless of whether the app is open or not. The only time that doesn't happen is if I set the reminder in the desktop app. Then the Android app won't sync to the cloud until it is open so the reminder doesn't sync either.

There is a common issue with Android devices that block reminders from apps that run in battery optimised mode. It varies with version of Android.

Disable battery optimization for Evernote, then you'll see reminder alerts pop up as Android won't be killing Evernote when it runs in the background.

Thanks for your replies regarding this issue. Adjusted the settings as suggested and now the alerts are loud and clear without being in the app.👌
