To protect you, that is the why. Better 0.01% lock-outs and contact support to get it fixed, than 0.01% damaging hacks. 😊 I do sympathize with you on the inconvenience. The how, ideally you'd be warned by notifications/SMS that they'd drop the support.

It's fine that Evernote wants to protect me. But when you make such a drastic change in the login proces, the least you can do is give your users a warning on forehand.
