Use of the 'any' advanced search operator

Hello everyone. Is the 'any' advanced search operator limited to just text comparisons or can I compare other advanced search operators?

For example, I know <any: A B> returns notes with A or B in it.  However, can I do <any tag:A tag:B> to return notes with Tag A or Tag B?

Yes, I have the Personal level so Booleans are not in my version.

I've tried this on my pile of notes and I am not understanding the results I see which is why I am posting the question.

Thanks in advance.

Yes that works, except I note you have left out the colon after any which is either a typo or the reason you are not getting the expected results!

Ah.  Good point.  You can't.  Oops? 🫢

I suppose for completeness we should point out that if the tags you want to include are all sub tags of a given tag then using the drop down from the first tag allows you to search for ANY of the main tag and subtags.

...and even if not,  you could easily search for one tag and add a new <temp> tag,  then search for the other tag and add <temp> to (kind've) get an 'any' search.  The <temp> tag has either or both - not elegant,  but it works.

Thanks @Mike P !

As far as the missing colon goes, yes it was a typo.

Unfortunately, I see I can’t combine an AND and OR via <X any:A B>

i assume I need to upgrade my subscription to the next level for that.

My reading of the search grammar (https://dev.evernote.com/doc/articles/search_grammar.php) is that it is possible. There are certainly examples given where any: is  used part way through a search string and only effects subsequent entries. I just tried:

tag:$pinned any: tag:ggplot tag:tidyverse

and I got notes tagged with $pinned AND either ggplot OR tidyverse.
