Automatic Hyperlinks Inappropriate

Recommended Posts

Every time I add an IP address or domain name in a note, Evernote automatically makes it into a hyperlink like "http://+ IP or domain" after I hit return or space. If I actually have "http://" or https://" at the beginning of the string, this behavior could possibly be useful. But, assuming every IP address in my note is a web server is annoying and counter productive. Almost every IP address on the Internet and any internal network is NOT a web server. How to turn off this frustrating behavior?

There is difference between the settings on mobile and desktop.

Since you decided to post in general discussions: There is no general advise on this. Check in Settings, Notes to see which options are available in your client. Control on mobile is better than on desktop.

Or just right click and select unlink (on a mac at least)

This works, but it is fairly easy to accidentally add the link back in - eg by adding a space or enter after the link.

I didn't promise it was perfect, the OP asked for a solution to an issue and I provided an option, it's also pretty clear if a link has been added in error and just as easy to unlink again.

User error can ***** up lots of things across lots of applications.
