MikeyB76 0
I have been using Evernote for 10 years now and through that time I have always had a password protected note where I kept some personal information. Today I tried to access that note and it no longer has the security protection applied to it and all of the information the note contained is gone. Currently it is now an unprotected note that only contains the letter "D". Is there some way to bring back an older version of this note so I can salvage what I had in there? Link to comment

Level 5 PinkElephant 8,819 Posted October 11, 2021 Level 5 Share Posted October 11, 2021 Just to make sure you are aware of the difference: There are NO password protected notes in EN. There is only a tool to password protect a selected text (must be free of formatting, even a single bullet will break the encryption feature) WITHIN of a note. This means when unencrypted the note is underlying the ever active syncing with the server. Hard to tell what might have happened to your note. You could ask support to review the issue, however without a fresh activity log showing the situation it will be difficult to know. Else as @gazumped proposed use the note history to go back before the point of failure. Personally I use my password manager to store sensitive information. It has a „private notes“ section, lacking most of what EN offers, but creating a secure container for sensitive documents I want to protect. Link to comment
MikeyB76 0
Is note history a paid subscription tool? I couldn't find it following the instructions that @gazumped listed, however when I looked around I did find it under the toolbar but it is grayed out. Now I am left wondering if I pay for a subscription if I will be able to dial it back to a previous save or will that option be lost to me since I had not previously been a subscriber? Level 5 PinkElephant 8,819 Posted October 18, 2021 Level 5 Share Posted October 18, 2021 Note history is running permanently on all accounts, paid and free. Access to it is a subscribers feature. Subscribing unlocks access to the data that is already there. Link to comment
