Evernote won't start or re-install - Premium User

Recommended Posts

It stopped working after the latest Windows Update this morning. It won't open nor will it re-install. I uninstalled and it won't re-install either. Just a message from Evernote saying "Something went wrong on our end, sorry about that. Please try restarting Evernote"

Quit
Restart

That's it. Anyone else had this come up?

Thank you for replying.

I attached a picture of the hell loop error message and also the windows build.

I am trying a system restore and turning off new Windows updates to see if that helps.

OK, Home usually is less complicated with settings and the network in which it is running.

Since I am mostly on a Mac, it may be a good point to get support involved. I think you should have Windows up and running before doing so.

They will probably tell you first to uninstall and reinstall. Wish you success!

For the benefit of anyone else that has this come up:

Also, what I did was just delete everything Evernote related and reinstalled using latest version. See below.

Hi J10Block.

Thank you for taking the time in contacting Evernote Support. My name is Roselyn, and I am happy to assist you today.

I understand that you are presented with "Something went wrong on our end, sorry about that. Please try restarting Evernote." error when launching Evernote app. I'm sorry to hear that reinstalling the app didn't resolve the issue. However, I appreciate your effort for doing some troubleshooting on your end before contacting us.

In an attempt to resolve this issue, please try reinstalling the local copy of your notes by following the steps below. This is called a database rebuild.

  1. Go to search located next to the start button
  2. Search for %appdata%
  3. Locate and delete the Evernote folder
  4. Go to Evernote.com/downloads and download and install the latest version of Evernote.
  5. Launch Evernote again and sign in

Please let us know how this works on your end. If you have other concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to contact us anytime.

Sincerely,

Roselyn M.

Maybe this, which basically is an alternative way to do more or less the same. But it does not try to do a piston repair while the engine is still running …

  1. Go to File > Sign Out [name] from the menu bar.
  2. Select the "Remove my Evernote data from this device" option, then click Sign out.
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. Sign back in to Evernote

The next step beyond this would be a full, clean uninstall.
